do you think that what your nephew has had to endure the past few weeks can compare to the horrific hardships that half the people on this planet endure on a daily basis for their entire lives? by comparison, your life and your nephew's life have been, and still are, charmed. every single day, you eat better than kings did for most of human history. every night you sleep in a warm, dry, clean, safe home and take for granted amenities half the world's population consider unattainable luxuries.
so what exactly is it that has your 'poor' nephew so traumatized? the non-stop fear porn on the TV? turn the damned thing off and cut the power cord. or is it the constant badgering with mindless biblical-literalist fairytale dogma from parents and extended family? then STFU, BTFO, and give the poor kid some room to think for himself. or better yet, chastise him for being so vain and ungrateful, and remind him to THANK God for his uncounted blessings and stupendous good fortune, and also ask forgiveness for his selfishness and doubt. a good Rx for you, too, anon. love comes in all forms. learn to swallow your ego and your pride and recognize a dose of well-deserved tough love, before you judge others. who is the small man now, hypocrite?
