AMD and Intel chipsets do it at the board level…

not matter what you fix at the OS level, machines are compromised.

unless you step on the requisite firmware.

it's a lot easier on older machines…

that was just the 1st time a largescale manufacturer was publicly caught.

 

I remember the leadership at a company I was working at laughing this off like it wasn't important. I Nope'd the fuck outta that, but was overruled.

 

UEFI/onboard "management engines" have resource access without any OS awareness

 

I guess not many here see this as an issue…

yeah this may be true. I see some folks getting their neck stepped on, like the folks involved in the Flynn and Stone cases, but no decision makers until Trump is a nuclear lame duck.

 

I see a lot of battlefield preparations, with interesting names being brought up, tho.
