So much talk about BlackSky, a commercial product, when there are examples of American open-source investigation and verification testing. You could set up this test lab too.

Why Are the Chinese Made IR Thermometers So Cold?

A family member in the medical field recently voiced frustration about the low quality of some non-contact infrared thermometers they received. It seem that the entire batch yields consistently lower temperatures when compared to oral thermometers.

I thought that this was strange. Typically, instruments for medical use are certified for accuracy prior to shipment. Considering that these devices come with a certificate of calibration, I reasoned that they shouldn’t produce such wide discrepancies. Early detection of the onset of high fever is a key factor in Covid-19 patient care. The ability to accurately track body temperature is also critical in determining if a patient is contagious and would trigger decisions regarding treatment, quarantine, and use of PPE gear.

Just like in the case of a faulty car speedometer that displays lower speeds and results in speeding tickets, the usage of faulty thermometers that consistently show lower temperatures can have a detrimental effect on patients and medical staff. Considering that we are in the midst of a severe flu outbreak, I decided to take a closer look. IR thermometers are relatively simple devices that can be easily disassembled and tested, so, I spent a few hours this weekend in the lab digging into the Chinese IR thermometer mystery.

Bottom line: This was not the organized work of the CCP. Instead it demonstrates the weakness of government in China. They simply have no control over what people do even with strategic products that will have MAJOR impact on foreign trade. A small group of malcontents, much like the Anons here, simply organized an operation to make and ship faulty thermometers to the USA so that more people would get sick and stay sick, infecting their neighbors for longer. Yes, this was an illegal act, but it was totally out of control of the government in a country that has a long history of being UNGOVERNABLE.

Another toolkit built mostly with Open Source tools and Open Source data. It happens to be a very comprehensive toolkit built by a guy with serious skills and experience, but the key takeaway is how much of it was accomplished by standing on the shoulders of those who went before.

If you are assembling a toolkit, it is worth reading Yaacov's blog articles.

Also, wind farms are a scam. They are a more expensive way to make electricity and are only profitable because of government subsidy. Also, the original figures that got them approved are faked. The cost of maintenance and repair rises faster than originally stated. The lifetime of the windmills is around half of what was originally stated. So the people who build them, collect government grants and then sell them to operators. They run them until the windmills start failing, at which point they bankrupt the company and disappear into a maze of shell companies. Governments want to sue but can't find anyone to sue.

They should all be torn down for scrap and replaced by SMR nuclear reactors.
