Boatfag Report

News Summary

NAVAIR has been testing the LRASM (Long Range Anti-Ship Missile) for launching from P-8 Poseidon aircraft

https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2020/05/navair-progressing-towards-lrasm-integration-on-p-8a-mpa/

Planefags - this could explain some of the P-8's on the East Coast but it seems unlikely to me they would use as many as we've seen deployed recently.

COSCO (ChiCom shipping company) taking it in the neck on Q1 profits due to their own damn virus

Iranian exports to hit record lows amid US sanctions on Chinese companies and the global outbreak of COVID-19

On The Scope

No significant changes seen in most areas since the last On The Scope report from 2 days ago. A few more ships off San Diego.

Pearl Harbor

Submarine found exiting Pearl. Data is about 18 hours old, she's under by now. Cap incl

Petroleum Gulf

Noticed a really odd vessel name, Glock 18, that together with what I suspect is a government boat, was alongside of another ship at anchor off Fujairah port in the UAE. Fujairah is about 50 nm due south of the Straight of Hormuz if you're looking at a map.

Contractors doing conractor things for their shipping magnate bosses, maybe? Ships are easier to jack at anchor than under way. Cap incl

USNS Watkins

>>9050739 LB marinetraffic.com won't let me break out the Watkins' current position, but when I search for her specifically she pops up briefly north of Havana where I've marked the "x". I'm not showing her anchored at Gitmo - but that's distinctly possible because she's obviously been in the area. Nothing on Watkins showing on vesselfinder, either, but there is an "auxiliary vessel'' in Gitmo harbor.
