I just bought a MIG welder and learned how to use it.
Retired at 37y/o.
You will likely be forced to drive teams.
You will NOT make anything close to 50-60k your first year or two.
No time like the present.
If you can swim and are willing to learn SCUBA, you can make $40/hr plus doing underwater welding.

What really turned me off was the fact that teammates were just as inexperienced as you are.

When I started, 25 years ago, that was the base/starting pay for shittiest underwater welding job I could find.
