The Justice Department declared to a court Thursday it did not have enough evidence to support the conviction or criminal charges against former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, opening the door for a federal judge to dismiss his case.

Omar becomes first ‘Squad’ member to sign AIPAC-backed letter on Iran arms embargo
Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan have not signed on yet.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) became the first member of “The Sqaud” to sign onto a letter, supported by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), that calls for extending the United Nations arms embargo on Iran that expires in October of this year. The bipartisan letter was written by Reps. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.), Michael McCaul (R-Texas), Stephanie Murphy (D-Fla.), and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urging him to “pursue increased actions" to extend the embargo. So far, 387 lawmakers have officially signed the letter, according to an AIPAC list of signatures.
Other members of the so-called Squad of Progressive House Democratic – Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, of New York; Ayanna Pressley, of Massachusetts; and Rashida Tlaib, of Michigan – have not signed on yet. Last year, Omar faced backlash after tweeting about the Israeli lobby’s influence, writing that "it’s all about the Benjamins, baby.” Omar apologized for her comments. The House later voted on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism. AIPAC declined to comment on Omar signing onto the letter.

Trump declares Flynn 'innocent man' and 'warrior,' after Justice Department moved to drop case
Flynn had agreed to plead guilty to the FBI in the Russian collusion probe
President Trump on Thursday praised his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, after learning that the Justice Department moved to drop its case against the retired Army general, declaring the vindicated Flynn an “innocent man.” “He was an innocent man,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “Now in my book he’s an even greater warrior.”
Trump spoke after the department recommended a federal judge reverse the conviction of Flynn and drop the criminal charges, a stunning reversal in a case that became a powerful symbol of FBI misconduct in the Russia investigation. The government's motion must still be granted by U.S. Judge District Judge Emmet Sullivan, and came an hour after the lead prosecutor in the case withdrew.
In the motion, the government said the recent revelations from evidence withheld from the court warranted the recommendation. Among the revelations was that the FBI interview in which Flynn was accused of lying was not warranted by law because agents had already concluded there was no criminal conduct or collusion with Russia by the retired general. Flynn move earlier this year to vacate his guilty plea, as part of an new and aggressive legal strategy as move evidence emerged. Trump's comments were followed by storm of tweets by Flynn supports including one from senior Iowa GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley.
