I’ve been digging further into TheMagikBOT to determine what it was actually editing on Wikipedia during January - February 2017 and again in July 2017.

First of all it appear to be adding page protection templates to Wikipedia pages, but a lot of you already know this.

What this means is that only Wikipedia users with established editing relationships can edit a protected page. They do this to stop “vandalism” of the data. If you do. It have sufficient credentials to edit a page you can submit a request to edit which will need approval.

As far as what was edited, in July of 2017 it appears the boy was working extensively on the Wikipedia Project Thailand. It would take me forever to delve into the details there, but on the surface it looks benign.

In January and February of 2017 hundreds of pages were protected. The list of page protection appears random at first (people, places, lists, random terminology), and maybe it actually is, but I did begin to notice a few patterns which include the following:

1) related protection of mass casualty topics such as serial killers, war death tolls, pre war censuses.

2) Protection of LGBT topics

3) protection of occult topics like the number 666

There is a lot of info there and I haven’t the time to comb through it all. I imagine the clowns hid targeted protections within a larger group of random page protections. The bottom line is that these pages will only be edited by those allowed access to them. YouTube can paint any topic as conspiracy and point to a controlled Wikipedia page as verification.
