Logical thinking = there is no way in hell China would lockdown a major city for 76 days knowing that the virus was fake or equivalent to the normal flu virus. If they agreed to do that they would demand compensation in the billions or hundreds of billions.
It is more logical to assume the Chinese govt gave up trying to contain it and understood they couldn't shut the entire country down.
