Would board or beam cell satisfy you?
I view the splinter/board/beam as Tom Beckett (but evil/demonic) and cells as "wiped" MK'ed kids all grown up… on a wide scale. Very B ad.
It's just a Quantum Leap episode… but scaled large… and with demons. I think.
