This is potentially more dangerous by far. In the Civil War, the opposing parties were defined and separated by geography/territory. Here, the opposing parties live cheek by jowl: all mixed up together in cities and suburbs. If this irregular conflict were to go “hot” it would be ugly urban warfare - a thousand versions of 1980s Beirut.
