Color is integral, just as with Kubrick whom Lynch idolizes; S3 is Eyes Wides Shut like in how much it's used. The scene at the diner shooting, with the sick androgenous girl being sick and the complete bullshit non-guardian answer "She needs to see her Uncle." with the violet clothing/lighting is suspect. The little boy who started it like a little golem of the father was also absurd – where the fuck did this convoy of cars come from at that hour of night? – very reminiscent of Being: John Malkovic and the elderly vampires that needed to get to the portal, or die.

The White Lodge in S3 could stand-in for a Masonic drawing square quite easily; – that said, the A-Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki occured on the anniversary of the Masons' expulsion from Japan. Both FDR and Ford were lodge men. Falling on the largest Christian population in asia was also by design, as much as the Trinity tests' name. I wonder if the B&W choice for the lumberjack & Judy origins in S3E8 weren't perhaps exclusively to make the sands of White Sands literally white.

In the Diary of Laura Palmer, she claims to have had an abortion– in the same way Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is the spectre of guilt manifested by the suicide of Percy Shelley's first wife Harriet Westbrook Shelley, whom Percy eloped from with Mary (and left children without father or mother) – so is Judy that of Laura's unborn daughter.
The pacing of S3 may be an issue for some without a dedicated interested in these occult themes, and is definitely enriched with a familiarity of the original two– but those on the Q spectrum should have enough curiosity in that direction to get a great deal out of S3 first.
