WASHINGTON, D.C. – Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell today issued the following statement:

“I am pleased that the U.S. Senate today confirmed Bill Evanina as director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC). With more than 30 years of distinguished federal service, including nearly six years of leading NCSC, Evanina’s confirmation is overdue and well-deserved.

Trump WON’T bail out states, but could help cover ‘unexpected’ costs of Covid-19 lockdown – adviser

US President Donald Trump is open to compensating hard-hit states for expenses incurred in their Covid-19 responses – but isn’t looking at complete bailouts, his economic adviser said, after Congress was asked to send aid.

“Of course if we go to a phase-four deal, I think President Trump has signaled that, while he doesn’t want to bail out the states, he’s willing to help cover some of the unexpected Covid expenses that might have come their way,” White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett told CNN.

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said the federal government is not going to bail out states that were “poorly” managed.

The so-called ‘phase four’ coronavirus-related relief package is currently in the works in Congress, after many businesses across the country were forced to shut down and more than 20 million Americans lost their jobs in April alone due to the lockdown.

Politicians in states like Illinois and Maryland have urged Congress to send financial aid in order to stabilize the states’ budgets and help their struggling cities. Trump, however, has strongly opposed the idea of bailing out states, arguing that such a step would be unfair to Republicans because “all the states that need help, they’re run by Democrats in every case.”

German Police Detain Bomb-Carrying Daesh Supporter Who Was Attacking Turkish Businesses

The detained suspect claimed he had weapons and explosives stashed in his house and garage. Nearby buildings were evacuated out of an abundance of precaution.

An unnamed 25-year-old male German citizen of Turkish descent was arrested in Bavaria under suspicion of involvement in a series of attacks on Turkish establishments in the town of Waldkraiburg between 16 April and 6 May. The police report said that the arrested citizen was motivated by his "hate" toward Turkish comrades as a supporter of the Daesh* terrorist group.

The 25-year-old threw rocks at a barbershop, a pizzeria, and a kebab house, but his most serious attack was the arson of a grocery shop on 27 April that left several people injured and resulted in major damage to the building.

Coincidence? Third In Line For President, Speaker Pelosi Remains Isolated At Home While Multiple People Around President Trump and VP Pence Test Posititive For COVID19

In President Trump’s administration, Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, a sworn enemy of the President, is third in the line of succession for the President of the United States.

Everyone knows that if President Trump resigns, is impeached or God forbid, dies after being infected with a bizarre virus that emanated from a biosafety level-4 virology laboratory in Communist China while in office, Vice President Pence would take over as President of the United States.

But what happens if Vice President Mike Pence died after becoming infected with the same virus?

This has never happened before, but as outlined in the Constitution, in this scenario, the presidency would be passed to the speaker of the House, then to the president pro tempore of the Senate, and the line of succession goes all the way to the secretary of Homeland Security.

On special occasions when all of the members of the line of succession are gathered together in one place, such as the State of the Union address, one of them – a “designated survivor” – does not attend. This is so that if there were to be some sort of a terrorist attack on the Capitol, at least one member of the line of succession would survive and would be able to lead the country, even if they might be a secretary of Agriculture or Health and Human Services with little executive experience.

A video of Speaker Pelosi sharing the contents of her commercial freezer, filled with gourmet ice cream, while millions of Americans were out of work and panicking about how they would feed their families, was shared by President Trump on his Twitter account on April 17. In his tweet, President Trump told the “incompetent political hack” to “Come back to Washington & take care of our great American workers.”

Chinese police arrest professor who linked coronavirus to the Chinese communist party

Authorities in the Chinese capital have formally arrested a retired professor who called COVID-19 a “Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus,” as supporters of the ruling party unleash a political backlash against its critics and the authorities investigate supporters of Wuhan Diary author Fang Fang.

Beijing police formally arrested Chen Zhaozhi on April 14 for “picking quarrels and stirring up trouble,” a charge frequently used to target peaceful critics of the regime, after he made comments linking the coronavirus to the CCP.

Chen, a former professor at the Beijing University of Science and Technology, had weighed in on a raging online debate about the origin of the coronavirus pandemic by saying it should be described as a “Chinese Communist Party virus” rather than a Chinese virus.

Chen, 68, told his lawyer during their first meeting on April 24 that police had tried to force him to confess but he refused to do so, according to the overseas based Chinese Human Rights Defenders (CHRD) network.

Turkey threatens to directly confront Libyan Army after attack on headquarters

BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:30 P.M.) – Turkey threatened on Sunday to target the Libyan National Army (LNA) after the bombing that was carried out yesterday on the Mitiga Airport in Tripoli, stressing that the operations carried out by it are targeting Turkish interests.

In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said, “The attacks of the forces (Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar) targeting diplomatic missions in Tripoli, including the Turkish embassy, civil aircraft at Mitiga Airport, and civilian infrastructure, are considered a war crime.”

“The Haftar elements will be considered a legitimate target if our diplomatic missions and our interests in Libya are targeted,” the statement said, adding that “the silence of the United Nations in the face of the brutal attacks of Haftar’s forces is unacceptable.”

The Turkish Foreign Ministry continued, “The countries that support Haftar militarily, financially and politically bear the responsibility for the injustice that the Libyan people are subjected to, and the chaos and instability prevailing in the country.”

On Saturday, the Government of National Accord (GNA) announced that residential neighborhoods in the vicinity of Mitiga Airport and Bab Ghashir area in the capital Tripoli had been subjected to missile strikes, while the Libyan National Oil Corporation announced serious damage to aviation fuel tanks of the Brega Oil Marketing Company in an airport warehouse.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A San Bernardino County man has agreed to plead guilty to a federal criminal charge that he produced dozens of sexually explicit images and videos of children, including one victim who was 3 years old at the time.

Chaunta A. Bashir, a.k.a. “taytheonly,” 26, of Chino, agreed to plead guilty to one count of production of child pornography, according to a plea agreement filed Monday in United States District Court. A hearing where Bashir will enter his guilty plea is expected to be set in the coming weeks.

This case is the result of an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Los Angeles, with assistance from the Chino Police Department.

In his plea agreement, Bashir admitted that from June 2015 to October 2018, he produced multiple images and videos of child pornography. Bashir admitted that in October and November 2017, he took sexually exploitative images and videos of a 3-year-old child, including of himself sexually abusing the child.

From April to September 2018, Bashir produced additional sexually explicit images and videos of children ranging in age from 4 years old to 14 years of age, according to the plea agreement. Some of those videos were recorded on his Snapchat and Facebook social media accounts.

Artificial intelligence outperforms human intel analysts in a key area

In the 1983 movie WarGames, the world is brought to the edge of nuclear destruction when a military computer using artificial intelligence interprets false data as an imminent Soviet missile strike. Its human overseers in the Defense Department, unsure whether the data is real, can’t convince the AI that it may be wrong. A recent finding from the Defense Intelligence Agency, or DIA, suggests that in a real situation where humans and AI were looking at enemy activity, those positions would be reversed.

Artificial intelligence can actually be more cautious than humans about its conclusions in situations when data is limited. While the results are preliminary, they offer an important glimpse into how humans and AI will complement one another in critical national security fields.

DIA analyzes activity from militaries around the globe. Terry Busch, the technical director for the agency’s Machine-Assisted Analytic Rapid-Repository System, or MARS, on Monday joined a Defense One viewcast to discuss the agency’s efforts to incorporate AI into analysis and decision-making.

Earlier this year, Busch’s team set up a test between a human and AI. The first part was simple enough: use available data to determine whether a particular ship was in U.S. waters.

“Four analysts came up with four methodologies; and the machine came up with two different methodologies and that was cool. They all agreed that this particular ship was in the United States,” he said. So far, so good. Humans and machines using available data can reach similar conclusions.

First court ruling on a COVID-19 travel ban

Judge William Bertelsman of the U.S District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky at Covington has issued a preliminary injunction prohibiting Kentucky state authorities from enforcing a “Travel Ban” order issued by Gov. Andy Beshear that prohibited most travel into or out of Kentucky, and required anyone crossing the state line to self-quarantine for fourteen days thereafter.

In so doing, and in concluding that “the Travel Ban does not pass constitutional muster,” Judge Bertelsman has become, so far as we know, the first Federal judge to opine on the Constitutionality of any of the hodgepodge of restrictions on interstate travel that have been imposed across the country in the name of control of the spread of COVID-19.

We are pleased that Judge Bertelsman correctly recognized that the Kentucky travel ban based its restriction on criteria (state lines and residency status that are meaningless to the novel coronavirus) that are unrelated to the protection of public health.

Covington, KY, is located directly across the Ohio River river from the larger city of Cincinnati, OH, with which it forms a single cross-border interstate metropolis. Judge Bertelsman sits in Covington, KY, but was born in Cincinnati, OH. The main airport for Cincinnati is located in Kentucky, not in Ohio, and uses the airport code “CVG” for Covington. In normal, non-pandemic times, more than 200,000 vehicles cross the bridges between Covington and Cincinnati every day, with no more thought than they would give to crossing a bridge within either state.

The ruling this week on the Kentucky ban on interstate travel came in a lawsuit, Roberts v. Neace, filed as a class action on April 14, 2020. The complaint raised objections both to the ban on interstate travel and to other provisions of Gov. Beshear’s executive orders restricting mass gatherings — including, but not limited to, gatherings for religious purposes — within the state of Kentucky.
