I wondered, for decades, why areas of the beaches weren't bombed into a cratered mess before our boys went in. They faced a vicious defense across flat ground. And, paid for it.
I have seen enough video and pics by now, that it's rare to view anything fresh… and I have come across exactly one mention of this, almost in passing, stating that a planned mission to plow the ground from the air was stopped. Could have been BS, easily.
Anyone know more about this? I'm progeny of ground pounders, and have a genetic distrust of brass.

I'm glad the mommas of those boys are dead. I can't imagine the grief the truth would cause them.
