Gowdy singles out reporters he says took leaks from Schiff about Trump-Russia collusion
Former Rep. Trey Gowdy named journalists he believes aided House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff spread a narrative of Trump-Russia collusion. “Let’s just start with Politico,” the South Carolina Republican said after quipping it would take three hours to go through the list, before adding, "Kyle Cheney is just an acolyte for Adam Schiff." “Manu Raju from CNN,” he continued. “Nothing Schiff wanted out, made public — no leak was too low for Manu Raju and CNN. Fill in the blank at the New York Times."
Schiff frequently touted knowing of direct evidence regarding the investigation into the Trump campaign's ties to Russia during the 2016 presidential contest. Republicans condemned Schiff for making baseless claims after transcripts from the House Intelligence Committee's own Russia investigation showed top Obama administration officials saying they had not seen any such evidence. Special counsel Robert Mueller's report, which was published last spring, showed his team did not establish a criminal conspiracy between the Trump team and the Kremlin.
