MILWAUKEE —

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi suggested a one-day Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee.

"My suggestion to Mr. Perez was get a gigantic stadium and put people six feet apart," she said. "Just do it in one day."

Speculation about what was to be Milwaukee's showcase summer event has been all over the board since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Organizers have rescheduled the convention from July to August.

Presumptive nominee Joe Biden said it might not happen in person.

"We're going to have to do a convention. It may have to be a virtual convention," he said.

But party Chairman Tom Perez said he was still planning on in-person event.

"We moved our convention back five weeks because we wanted to maximize our opportunities to have an in-person convention," he said.

Meanwhile Milwaukee remains in limbo waiting for answers.

In a statement to WISN 12 News, convention Chairman Joe Solmonese said, "We'll continue to follow the guidance of public health experts and adjust our contingency plans.

"(I'm) confident that we'll be able to deliver a successful convention in Milwaukee this summer," he said.

Pelosi didn't specifically mention Miller Park, but it's the only stadium in Milwaukee that could fit her description.

Before the pandemic hit, it was discussed as an option to host the final night of the convention, but that idea was later dropped.

I begin to wonder anon's if most of the Demoncrat's will have other pressing engagements and they won't be able to attend the gala. So they can do a video conference from GITMO.
