Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo president leaving after 7 years in role
President and CEO Joel Cowley didn't expand on his exact plans for life after the rodeo, but said he'll still be working in a capacity that will impact it.
"While I will remain a lifelong supporter of the Rodeo and its mission of promoting agriculture and supporting education, I will be pursuing an opportunity that has a direct impact on the agricultural industry," said Cowley in Tuesday's announcement. "In doing so, I hope to provide the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with an even better story to tell about advancements in the critically important field of agriculture."

Body found in Hermann Park lake identified as exiled Iranian activist
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A body found in McGovern Lake at Hermann Park on last week has been identified as a political activist and human rights advocate from Iran.
Someone in the park spotted the body of Ali Ajami, 37, floating around 10:00 a.m. on May 6.
Ajami was sentenced to two years in prison, according to his friend, for protesting a presidential election in 2009. From there, he was exiled from his home country, went to Turkey and then moved to the U.S.
An autopsy will be performed to determine how Ajami died.
The detective on the case said there is no sign of foul play or serious injury to his body. He went on to tell ABC13 that Ajami was on medication for depression.

‘Ink Master’ star arrested in crash that killed YouTube personality, L.A. cops say
A former reality TV star has been arrested following a crash Sunday that killed YouTube personality Corey La Barrie on his 25th birthday, KCBS reports.
Daniel Silva, 27, a former star of “Ink Master,” has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the crash, according to the station.
Silva, at the wheel of a 2020 McLaren 600LT, was traveling at a high rate of speed on Huston Street when he lost control at 9:39 p.m., Los Angeles police said in a statement.
