Senators Vote this Friday for this Bill

AB 828:

• Eliminates all means for a property owner to recover economic loss or operational costs associated with running rental property.

• Creates a court ordered reduction of rent by 25 percent for a 12-month period for any tenant claiming to be affected by Covid-19. The reduction in rent is arbitrary and will cripple rental property owner’s ability to continue to own and operate rental housing.

• Establishes a tenant’s right of possession for 12 months.

• Flat out: it is unconstitutional. It violates the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution. Owners will be deprived of due process of law. It also violates the US Constitution because it constitutes a “taking” of private property.
