Hi. Read that article. This is the 3rd version of it that I've seen. Here are the two other articles:
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2012410
https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2020/05/study-finds-no-hydroxychloroquine-effect-death-severe-covid-19
Ready for the explanation?
Of the 811 that received HCQ, 486 also received Azithromycin in conjunction with HCQ treatment.
We end up with 346 patients on ventilators, or dying (this was the 'primary end point event' determined in the study).
The rest of the patients included in the study that received HCQ in conjunction with something other than Azithromycin were tallied in with the 346 number, but we cannot be sure how much of each control group were included because there was no distinction made.
Here's the results of the study:
1446 patients admitted.
1376 patients were presented in the study (70 died, were intubated, or were transferred).
811 patients received HCQ in conjunction with something else.
486 of those patients received Azithromycin in conjunction with HCQ.
325 of those patients received HCQ in conjunction with something else.
346 patients experienced a primary end point event.
-
They do not make the distinction of whether or not a particular combination of treatment worked better than the rest.
-
They do not indicate how many of the combinations of treatments worked/failed.
3. They do not present clear data for the 486 patients that received both HCQ and Azithromycin AT ALL.
-
No viral load tests were submitted as part of this study, as that wasn't even the concern. The concern was to present how many patients ended up on ventilators or dead. They made no distinction in the study to prove the efficacy of HCQ combined with Azithromycin.
The study looked into something HCQ was incapable of doing by itself without the right combination of medicine; preventing LATE STAGE symptomatic patients that were very infected. They cleverly left the distinction of combinations of treatments out of their final results, focusing only on HCQ.
Oh, and next time?WAIT FOR THE FUCKING DOUGH.
