I had a good friend, a down on his luck writer in Burlintong, VT, who ended up incarcerated for haranguing that town's corrupt mayor a bit too, shall we say – strenuously.
He told me the story of when he'd attended a Stephen King reading, and during the Q & A, when an audience member asked him where he got his inspiration, he answered, with a totally straight face, "From my lord and savior Lucifer".
The audience tittered, thinking it was a joke. My friend could see clearly it was not.
