Q’s post does say former, but according to NBC, Pence talked Coats into staying on the team and even calls them “long time friends from Indiana.” I find that a bit interesting.

That could absolutely be an explanation. I’m undecided on Pence. I’ve heard good arguments both ways. I just thought this was interesting to note.
