Born on 11 May 1988 in Luxembourg City, Maria was the daughter of Prince Piotr Galitzine, a Russian aristocrat, and Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria, the daughter of the Archduke Rudolf of Austria, who was the youngest son of Emperor Charles I of Austria and Empress Zita of Bourbon-Parma (the last Emperor and Empress of Austria). She was one of six children, with three sisters and two brothers, Princess Xenia, Princess Tatiana, Princess Alexandra, Prince Dimitri and Prince Ionn Teimouraz.
Maria's great-grandparents had been exiled from Austria following the First World War, with her great-grandfather Charles I of Austria dying in 1922. Her great-grandmother Zita went on to live until she was 96. The family was granted special permission for her funeral to be held in Austria - although it was not a state occasion and the reaction of the public was said to be mixed.

Who literally sets the crown on the new kings head?
Does he Crown himself?
Or, is it an official ceremony?
