I have both of Noah Websters first two dictionaries he wrote.
He was a true patriot.
It's interesting about their history.
His 1st dict. was written because being a linguist, he knew that one day the founding father's words used in the Constitution would be challenged and the original intent of their meanings altered.
[Remember the many times the SC needed to "interpret" certain Const. words, and tried like hell to "reinterpret" them? Then you get his point.]
His 2nd Dict in 1828 was to chisel in stone you might say, the words and their meanings used in the King James bible. Once again, so the future could not alter what the original intent was.
We do need our language back.
