I've got to believe that long investigations are a hold-over from the days when the mafia ran the DOJ. It's a tactic to protect their buddies.

The purpose of arrest is to STOP the crime. It's even in the word itself, which comes from the French and means "to stop." When we investigate the hell out of stuff, crime continues.

And also, doesn't presenting a boatload of evidence like that just confuse juries? The case could end up being dismissed because something questionable was included.

Justice needs to be MUCH swifter. A small amount of evidence is fine if it's all solid.
