Turkish-Backed Militants Clash With Each Other Over Smuggling Route. Casualties Reported

Late on May 16, heavy clashes broke out between the Hamza Division and the al-Shamiya Front in the Turkish-occupied city of al-Bab.

Enab Baladi, a pro-opposition news outlet, said a disagreement on a smuggling route with government-held areas was the reason behind the clashes. The two groups used heavy weapons, including mortars and rocket-propelled grenades, in the clashes.

After a few hours of heavy clashes, the so-called Military Police, a law enforcement body backed by Ankara, brokered a ceasefire agreement between the two groups.

Such clashes are a quite common in Turkish-occupied areas in north and northeast Syria. Disagreements over financial issues and criminal activities are usually the cause.

The Turkish military doesn’t intervene in these clashes, likely to maintain good relations with all of its proxies. However, this policy is leading to a state of lawlessness in Turkish-occupied areas.

'Pharma Bro' Martin Shkreli was denied early release from prison after he pleaded with a judge to free him so he could work on a cure for COVID-19.

On Saturday, Judge Kiyo Matsumoto of New York City rejected a bid from Shkreli, 37, to be released amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He first asked for a three-month release in April so he could assemble a team to solve the coronavirus, which has killed 1,500,670 Americans and killed 89,563.

How Biosecurity Is Enabling Digital Neo-Feudalism

Italian master thinker Giorgio Agamben has been on the – controversial – forefront examining what new paradigm may be emerging out of our current pandemic distress.

He recently called attention to an extraordinary book published seven years ago that already laid it all out.

In Tempetes Microbiennes, Patrick Zylberman, a professor of History of Health in Paris, detailed the complex process through which health security, so far at the margins of political strategies, was sneaking into center stage in the early 2000s. The WHO had already set the precedent in 2005, warning about “50 million deaths” around the world caused by the incoming swine flu. In the worst-case scenario projected for a pandemic, Zylberman predicted that “sanitary terror” would be used as an instrument of governance.

That worst-case scenario has been revamped as we speak. The notion of a generalized obligatory confinement is not warranted by any medical justification, or leading epidemiological research, when it comes to fighting a pandemic. Still, that was enshrined as the hegemonic policy – with the inevitable corollary of countless masses plunged into unemployment. All that based on failed, delirious mathematical models of the Imperial College kind, imposed by powerful pressure groups ranging from the World Economic Forum (WEF) to the Munich Security Conference.

Enter Dr. Richard Hatchett, a former member of the National Security Council during the first Bush Jr. administration, who was already recommending obligatory confinement of the whole population way back in 2001. Hatchett now directs the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), a very powerful entity coordinating global vaccine investment, and very cozy with Big Pharma. CEPI happens to be a brainchild of the WEF in conjunction with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Crucially, Hatchett regards the fight against Covid-19 as a “war”. The terminology – adopted by everyone from President Trump to President Macron – gives away the game. It harks back to – what else – the global war on terror (GWOT), as solemnly announced in September 2001 by Donald “Known Unknowns” Rumsfeld himself.

Rumsfeld, crucially, had been the chairman of biotech giant Gilead. After 9/11, at the Pentagon, he got busy aiming to blur the distinction between civilians and the military when it came to GWOT. That’s when “generalized obligatory confinement” was conceptualized, with Hatchett among the key players.

As much as this was a militarized Big Pharma spin-off concept, it had nothing to do with public health. What mattered was the militarization of American society to be adopted in response to bioterror – at the time automatically attributed to a squalid, tech-deprived al-Qaeda.

The current version of this project – we are at “war” and every civilian must stay at home – takes the form of what Alexander Dugin has defined as a medical-military dictatorship.

AFP tip-off leads to rescue of child sex slaves

The arrest of an Australian man with links to child abuse in the Philippines has triggered an international police bust which resulted in three children being rescued and a woman arrested.

The paedophile ring bust is part of an ongoing investigation by the Australian Federal Police into the sexual abuse of children in the Philippines.

The raid was sparked after the AFP arrested a 63-year-old Sydney man in January who is accused of live-streaming child abuse online.

An investigation by the AFP’s child-protection unit in Sydney then used intelligence provided by the financial crimes watchdog, AUSTRAC, to discover the man had made 395 transactions, totalling $113,000, to individuals in the Philippines over many years.

After a tip-off from the AFP to authorities in the Philippines, local police raided a property last Wednesday in the north of the capital, Manila.

Three children — aged six, 11 and 14 — were rescued and a 34-year-old woman was arrested on charges that she used the minors to live-stream sexual acts on the internet. Photos show Philippine authorities shielding the children and leading them out of the property.

Since 2010, the Sydney man is suspected of travelling to Manila on a regular basis to engage in criminal activities. He was in the country as recently as December last year.

The initial investigation was sparked by one of his visits to the country last year and he was later arrested and charged with producing child abuse material.

The man was granted bail in the NSW Supreme Court last month after a $30,000 surety was posted by his brother, who the court found to be an "acceptable person".

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton told The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age the operation was a strong example of Australia's key security agencies working together across borders to protect children from further harm.

“We will continue doing everything within our power to protect these children and to bring justice to these insidious offenders," Mr Dutton said.

US occupation sends more logistical supplies and weapons to its illegal bases in Hasaka

Hasaka, SANA – The US occupation forces sent a new logistical supplies and weapons convoy to Syrian territory, coming from Iraq via al-Walid illegal crossing point.

Local sources told SANA’s reporter in Hasaka that the US occupation forces sent on Sunday evening a convoy of 50 vehicles including trucks, refrigerated trucks, and armored vehicles transporting logistical supplies and weapons.

The sources said the convoy went in the direction of Remailan area via al-Suwaidiya oil fields, and that it is presumably bound for the illegal bases set up by the US occupation in al-Shadadi city in Hasaka’s southern countryside.

China Reveals Preliminary Cause of Its Envoy's Death, Sends Team to Israel for Investigation

Du Wei, 57, who was appointed envoy to the Middle Eastern country in February, was found dead at his home in Herzliya on 17 May. His death comes a week after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Israel. The US official reportedly pressed Israeli authorities to limit cooperation with the Chinese government.

The Chinese Ambassador to Israel died from natural causes, Beijing said in a statement. "The preliminary verdict is that Ambassador Du Wei died unexpectedly of health reasons. The details await further confirmation", read the statement from the Chinse Foreign Ministry. Beijing said that it would send a special investigator to investigate the envoy’s death.

Micky Rosenfeld, spokesman for the Israeli police, said officers had arrived at the ambassador’s house as part of its regular procedure but did not conduct an investigation. According to Rosenfeld, upon arriving in Israel, Du had spent 14 days at home in self-isolation due to safety measures introduced in response to the coronavirus outbreak. His wife and son were not with him in Israel.

The ambassador’s death comes amid an escalating war of words between China and the United States over the coronavirus pandemic. Senior US officials, including President Trump, have accused Beijing of covering and inadequately responding to the disease, which allowed it to spread to other countries. The Chinese authorities have denied the claim.

In his op-eds in Israel’s Jerusalem Post newspaper as well as his public statements, the ambassador had rejected the claim that Beijing was responsible for the spread of the disease.

Joe Biden: Grads Will ‘Redefine What It Means to be a Global Citizen’

During a brief video to graduates of Delaware State University on Saturday, Joe Biden said some of them will “redefine what it means to be a global citizen.”

The statement is a stark contrast to President Trump’s America First agenda.

“I know these are difficult times for all of us,” Biden said, “And for any of you who might’ve lost loved ones to this pandemic.”

After saying “we’re going to get through this,” he continued, “We’re going to need the passion and ingenuity and the skill that all of you have to offer to help rebuild and transform this country.

“I’m looking forward to all of you becoming leaders, educators, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, artists here in Delaware,” the candidate, dubbed the “last, best hope of globalists,” told grads.

“Many of you will be responsible for developing new technologies,” Biden said.

“Some of you will redefine what it means to be a global citizen and lead the way in uniting people regardless of age, gender, race, or zip code,” he said.

The 97-second video had three clear edits, suggesting Biden couldn’t get all the way through the brief prepared statement.

On Thursday, Biden proposed creating a 100,000-member Public Health Corps. made up of “young people” who would conduct coronavirus contact tracing.

“We have a chance to institutionally change the way this economy functions once we get by this godawful pandemic,” Biden said.
