Who was the first President of the United States?

PEYTON RANDOLPH in 1774. There were 14 Presidents prior to G. Washington. Does it make sense that we had no President from 1776 (our official founding) to 1789 (when George served)?

Randolph was the first President to be elected and preside over the first government of the US; the Continental Congress.

Washington was installed and was merely the Commander in Chief of the Army.
