That last part by Barr is just jarring. What brave new world are we prepping for? Contact tracing without our consent is fine, but Apple needs to give up encryption and let the gov have unfettered access.

lol sure. the fbi and ic would never abuse it. eventually it'll trickle down to local police having access like almost every other privacy violation before it.

so if the FBI relents and allows a backdoor now or in a future update. does that give them the ability to go back years? Not quite ex post facto since no law was passed, but still would be interesting to see play out in public and the courts, whether I agree or not.
