I put one in the ground February 14. The pain is still raw for all of us. His mom is outside now, laying with her head on his grave and his brother is laying next to her. The remaining sister is nearby. I try not to go out there too often … I'm the one who found him when he was still warm and had to dig the hole.
He did get a proper casket, though, a watertight double-walled tool box with his bowl and food for the next life buried with him. My prayers are that there will be someone in the next life to open the can and get him some fresh water.
But just until I can catch up.
