Its actually not quite like that anon. Its more akin to marine gold mining. In fact, the equipment on the deck is almost exactly what they use. A big shaker. A diesel motor drives a pump that pumps water through an extendable “rake ended” pipe and all the material goes straight on to the shaker and a conveyer belt spreads it over the deck into a pile.
Im fairly certain you could ride this thing to Alaska and with little modification turn it into an ocean gold miner.
