US administration is shaping great power standoff concept, says Lavrov

The US administration is replacing the stabilization of international relations by strategic rivalry among great powers, thus forming a standoff concept, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told TASS when asked about the development of a "super-duper" missile in the United States.

"The current US administration is phasing out the term ‘strategic stability’ from its vocabulary. Instead of strategic stability as a goal to be sought in relations between our countries and relations among all leading powers of the world a new notion, a new term has begun to be used: strategic great power rivalry. In other words, it is standoff, and not stabilization of the situation that is used as the conceptual basis," he said.

Lavrov believes that for understanding the reasons behind such transformation of fundamental terms "there must be a direct dialogue, which regrettably does not exist yet."

He announced that Russia and the United States were going to hold a video conference on strategic stability. Lavrov and US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo earlier agreed to establish contacts between the US Special Presidential Representative for Arms Control Marshall Billingsley and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

"They held a telephone conversation on May 8. A rather preliminary one. The Americans promised that as soon as they are ready, they will propose specific dates for holding the videoconference to discuss strategic stability issues - all those ‘supers’ and ‘dupers’ (earlier, US President Donald Trump declared the development of a "super-duper missile" - TASS) and everything else that concerns nuclear arms control, with officials from the ministries of defense and security services taking part. We are now waiting for such a proposal regarding the date of our video consultations," Lavrov said.

Asked for a comment on Trump’s statement the "super-duper missile" the United States was working on was capable of flying 17 times faster than any other missile existing at the moment, Lavrov said he would prefer not to go into details.

"I do not possess special technical knowledge that would let me measure the speed of sound and the number of speeds of sound this or that piece of military hardware is capable of developing… I would not enter into this discussion. My job is to ensure our relations with the United States should not be overshadowed by new problems," he explained, adding that the strategic stability dialogue was one of the fields where Russian-US relations needed considerable improvement.

White House press secretary: 'You have to have a prescription' to take hydroxychloroquine

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany urged Americans on Tuesday to consult with a doctor before taking hydroxychloroquine after President Trump said a day earlier he had started taking it to protect against the coronavirus.

"Any use of hydroxychloroquine has to be in consultation with your doctor. You have to have a prescription. That’s the way it must be done," McEnany told the hosts of "Fox & Friends."

McEnany said she consulted with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Stephen Hahn about the anti-malaria drug after Trump told reporters he was taking it prophylactically. The press secretary said she didn't have any information about Trump's "exact rationale," but noted he consulted with the White House physician.

"The president has said pretty widely that this is a drug that he had looked at with optimism, but nevertheless he said that this is a decision that must be made with the doctor," McEnany said.

Trump told reporters on Monday he had started taking hydroxychloroquine, which he has championed as a potential treatment for the coronavirus despite limited evidence from the medical community.

"So far, I seem to be OK," he said.

A letter from the White House physician released later Monday said he and Trump concluded "the potential benefit from treatment outweighed the relative risks."

But the letter did not explicitly state that Trump was taking hydroxychloroquine, breeding skepticism about the president's declaration earlier in the day.

The FDA issued a warning last month that hydroxychloroquine should not be taken outside of a hospital or clinical trial because of the risk of severe heart problems.

The drug showed no benefit for patients in an analysis of those hospitalized in Veterans Health Administration medical centers. The study, released last month, found the two primary outcomes for COVID-19 patients treated with hydroxychloroquine were death and the need for mechanical ventilation.

Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies has claimed that U.S. sanctions against the company may jeopardize its very survival and create turmoil in the global tech industry.

On Friday, the U.S. Commerce Department, with President Donald Trump’s support, blocked Huawei from receiving semiconductor designs developed via U.S. software and technology, citing that the Chinese firm presents a threat to national security.

Specifically, the Commerce Department said all non-U.S. chipmakers using American chipmaking equipment, intellectual property or design software now need to apply for a license before delivering chips to Huawei.

U.S. officials have accused Huawei of securing chips and components that are manufactured around the world, but which are based on U.S. technology. Last year, the U.S, banned Huawei from the American market, but has allowed U.S. businesses that work with Huawei some time to reorient their business models.

The U.S. has long maintained that Huawei engages in espionage for Beijing – a charge the company denies.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said that while Huawei may seek to develop its own components, “that effort is still dependent on U.S. technologies.”

On Monday, Huawei, the world’s largest supplier of telecom network equipment and second biggest smartphone manufacturer, condemned the ban.

“The decision [by the U.S.] was arbitrary and pernicious and threatens to undermine the entire technology] industry worldwide,” Huawei said in a statement.

Huawei also said the U.S. was “leveraging its own technological strengths to crush” foreign firms.

Huawei’s chairman Guo Ping said his company “will inevitably be affected” by the new U.S. directives.

Soros Donor Network Quietly Launched New Big-Money Entities

Democracy Alliance plans to spend $275 million through liberal groups opposing Trump

A powerful donor club cofounded by liberal billionaire George Soros quietly established two big-money entities to help its effort to inject $275 million into the 2020 election.

The Democracy Alliance, a coalition of deep-pocketed Democratic donors, launched the Strategic Victory Fund super PAC in March. The PAC appears to be aimed at state-based initiatives and can collect and spend unlimited sums on political advertisements. The group also created the Strategic Victory Fund nonprofit arm, which supplied the PAC's initial $500,000 deposit.

Democracy Alliance helps set the Democratic agenda and Vox has called it the "closest thing that exists to a ‘left-wing conspiracy' in the US." The two new groups appear to be part of the $275 million anti-Trump strategy its board approved in February of 2019. The strategy includes supporting state-based organizing in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, and Virginia. It would also work to elect more progressive politicians at the state and local levels while building a candidate pipeline. The network additionally pinpointed at least 25 rural communities to build infrastructure and leadership for "civic engagement and progressive agenda development."

Both the PAC and the nonprofit were incorporated by North Carolina attorney Michael Weisel, who also incorporated other Democracy Alliance efforts, including its Committee on States. Gara LaMarche, president of Democracy Alliance, confirmed to the Washington Free Beacon that the super PAC and nonprofit are part of the organization's 2020 efforts. Scott Anderson, executive director of Strategic Victory Fund, was previously the executive director of the Committee on States. Anderson did not respond to a request for comment.

The Strategic Victory Fund's dark money nonprofit arm funds the Organizing Together 2020 campaign, a large-scale effort to better position Democrats to take on Trump. Organizing Together was launched to boost Democratic campaign infrastructure in the battleground states of Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. The campaign, which consists of a coalition of 14 liberal groups, is co-chaired by Rhode Island governor Gina Raimondo, New Mexico governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, and former Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe. The total cost of its efforts is estimated to run between $20 and $60 million.

JP Morgan Billionaire Torn to Shreds on Twitter Over Call for Fairer Post-COVID-19 World

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon made headlines and raised eyebrows on Tuesday after penning a memo ahead of his megabank’s annual shareholder meeting in which he suggested that the coronavirus pandemic is an opportunity to create an economy with more fairness and opportunities for all.

Not everyone is buying billionaire banker Jamie Dimon’s calls for the United States to use the coronavirus crisis as “a catalyst to rebuild an economy that creates and sustains opportunity for dramatically more people, especially those who have been left behind for too long.”

In a letter to shareholders published Tuesday, the 64-year-old executive, a lifelong banker who has an estimated personal net worth of $1.3 billion, suggested that “the last few months have laid bare the reality that, even before the pandemic hit, far too many people were living on the edge.”

“This crisis must serve as a wake-up call and a call to action for business and government to think, act and invest for the common good and confront the structural obstacles that have inhibited inclusive economic growth for years,” Dimon stressed.

The reason for Dimon’s appeal is not entirely clear. It is known that the JPMorgan Chase CEO’s name has been mentioned for the post of treasury secretary in presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s campaign, should Biden win the presidency.

Whatever the motivation, online, commentators didn’t buy Dimon’s sincerity, pointing to his less than stellar record as a banker, including nearly 50 alleged violations of banking and securities regulations attributed to his bank since 2010, as well as allegations of bribing Chinese officials by hiring their relatives, and taking advantage of a generous bailout of the US financial system in 2008. JPMorgan was also fined $13 billion for bad mortgages which helped cause the 2008 recession in the first place.

US asking Israel to eliminate China ties in sensitive areas

Israel’s ‘polite deflection won’t cut it anymore’ on China ties, US official says; academic tech research among areas in which US seeking to have Israel cut cooperation.

The US is asking its allies, including Israel, to sever ties with China in areas with security risks, a US official with knowledge of talks on the matter said on Tuesday.

The demand marks an escalation, since in previous public statements, US Ambassador David Friedman and State Department officials had focused on the establishment of a more robust review process for foreign investments that could pose risks, and a reduction of reliance on China for emergency equipment in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Asked whether the establishment of an Israeli version of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) would satisfy the US, the official said: “I’d go further. Reduction of entanglements overall. Elimination in critical areas altogether.”

“A CFIUS-type mechanism is a good start,” he added.

As Pompeo has done in the past, the official emphasized that “this is not exclusive to Israel. We’re having similar conversations with all of our allies and partners.”

The Trump administration official said that Israel must be prepared to take concrete action to reduce its ties with China.

“I don’t think polite deflection will cut it anymore,” he stated. “This is a high priority for the US.”

In past meetings on the matter, “the Israeli side has politely acknowledged our concerns without committing to action,” the official based in the US recounted.

Multiple US government sources denied knowledge of an Israeli request for indemnity from the US in exchange for reducing trade ties. Army Radio reported on Tuesday that US officials declined the request, but still expect Israel to be on their side in their standoff with China.

The ongoing friction between the US and China escalated in recent months, in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, and the US has put pressure on many of its allies as a result.

Prosecution to PM: No skipping out on first hearing of trial

Netanyahu has not yet formally filed a request to avoid attending on Sunday. The prime minister is being charged with bribery, fraud and breach of trust.

The state prosecution on Tuesday told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu it will oppose any attempt by him to avoid attending the opening of his public corruption trial on Sunday.

Formally, the reply came from Tel Aviv Economic Crimes Division director Yehudit Tirosh. But important issues related to the trial likely will be cleared with Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit.

Netanyahu had not yet filed such a request with the Jerusalem District Court. He apparently wanted to ascertain what position the prosecution would take.

But late Monday night, a spokesman for Netanyahu confirmed that he might file such a motion with the court.

The prosecution said the law requires a defendant to be present for his arraignment hearing, where he must personally plead innocent or guilty.

The court had ordered Netanyahu to appear in its prior February and early May scheduling orders related to the trial, Tirosh said.

A spokesman for Netanyahu said Monday night that if he files a request, it will be because the first hearing is just a technical discussion to review discovery issues and set a schedule for witnesses.

Furthermore, the spokesman said Netanyahu travels with a large security contingent that would negatively impact how many lawyers and media representatives could be present in the main courtroom, and bringing it was a waste of resources.

MasterChef contestant charged with sexual assault of girl, 16

A MasterChef contestant who suddenly left the popular cooking show mid-season was charged several months ago with the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl.

Ben Ungermann left the latest season of MasterChef with little explanation, leaving viewers puzzled about his sudden departure.

On Tuesday, Victoria Police confirmed Mr Ungermann was charged with two counts of sexual assault on March 6.

A police spokesman said the victim in the case was a 16-year-old girl.

The charges, laid by the Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team, followed an investigation into an alleged sexual assault on February 23 in Docklands, in the city's inner-west.

"A 36-year-old Queensland man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault," the police spokesman said.

"He has been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on June 25."

MasterChef: Back to Win, which features contestants from past seasons, has been filming in Melbourne since January and has continued during lockdown with safety measures in place.

In an episode which aired on Sunday, host Jock Zonfrillo told the other MasterChef contestants that the chef had left due to a "personal matter".

"Ben has had to leave the competition and he will not be returning," he said.

Mr Ungermann was runner-up in season nine in 2017, losing to Diana Chan.

With his brother, he founded gourmet Ipswich ice-cream parlour The Ungermann Brothers.

He announced he was returning to MasterChef on February 25, two days after the alleged offending took place.

Most recently he has been working at the Woodlands of Marburg in Queensland.

The venue shared a picture on Instagram of Mr Ungermann six days ago, saying he was their new "gourmet chef".

A spokeswoman from production company Endemol Shine Australia said: "We can confirm Ben Ungermann has left the MasterChef Australia competition. As this is a police matter, we will not be making further comment".

Mr Ungermann has been approached for comment.

Is Big Pharma Suppressing Hydroxychloroquine?

In the May 14 edition of her Fox News show, Laura Ingraham interviewed Dr. Ivette Lozano, a Texas physician, who was having trouble with a pharmacy that had refused to fill her off-label prescriptions for hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) without submitting to new red tape. It seems the Texas pharmacy board is requiring physicians to reveal patients’ medical diagnoses before allowing pharmacies to dispense HCQ prescriptions.

Dr. Lozano’s pharmacy must have been citing Title 22, Part 15, Chapter 291, Subchapter A, §291.30. However, if one goes to Texas Pharmacy Rules at the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, and clicks on the link for Subchapter A just under Chapter 291, the webpage one is taken to does not list §291.30.

A little more digging gave me Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Response at the Texas Medical Board, which, under “COVID-19 Emergency Rules,” has this link: Texas State Board of Pharmacy – §291.30. Medication Limitations. That link is for a webpage showing that §291.30 was an emergency action, and it makes this requirement of Texas physicians like Dr. Lozano who prescribe HCQ,: “(1)the prescription or medication order bears a written diagnosis from the prescriber consistent with the evidence for its use.”

On May 15, the day after Laura Ingraham’s interview of Dr. Lozano, The Texan ran “Pharmacy Board Loosens Restrictions on Hydroxychloroquine Prescriptions, Reversing Course” by Kim Roberts:

Because of her concern for patient privacy that seemed incompatible with the unprecedented rule, Lozano contacted State Senator Bob Hall to ask for help reaching the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Hall was concerned about the rule that seemed to be inhibiting the dispensing of these potentially life-saving prescriptions…

Additionally, he is concerned about “collusion between the pharmacy board and pharmaceutical companies who want to prevent the use of an inexpensive drug while they develop a new, expensive drug.”

The article also states that Dr. Lozano “learned about the treatment from one of President Trump’s press conferences.” The article did not include a link to the new webpage at the Texas pharmacy board from which it quoted the new relaxed rules. Perhaps Roberts found the quote at this webpage, which outlines the rationale for issuing §291.30 in the first place. This May 15 Guidance Statement attempts to further clarify the rule. (It also states that it is “in response to several news stories,” perhaps Laura’s.) The operative language is surely this:

Colombian Military Launches Major Attack Against ELN Encampment

The Colombian government has put a definitive end to the already troubled peace dialogues with the ELN (Ejército de Liberación Nacional – National Liberation Army), after launching a major military operation against an ELN encampment located in the province of Bolivar (in the north of the country).

Negotiations commenced in Ecuador in 2017 after a preliminary agreement was reached, and several cycles of dialogues were advanced between the Government of Juan Manuel Santos and the guerrilla group of the ELN. As a result several unilateral ceasefires were declared by the ELN and a series of regional roundtables were created whose purpose was to provide input for the development of protocols for participation by representatives of Colombian society. The respective delegations were obliged to relocate to Cuba in 2018 after the president of Ecuador decided to withdraw from the country’s role as guarantor of the peace process.

The dialogues failed to make substantial progress and eventually stalled, though neither party declared an intention to abandon the dialogue completely. This began to change when Iván Duque assumed power in 2018, the new administration deciding not to reactivate the dialogues and finally recalling the government’s delegation after the attack in Bogotá on the General Santander Military School in 2019, which left 22 dead and dozens of injured.

Despite the complete breakdown in the dialogues, prior to last week’s bombardment neither party had launched a major offensive operation against the other for over a year. In March of this year the ELN declared a unilateral one month ceasefire during April and called on the government to reciprocate, however the government declined. The government also failed to respond to the insurgent group’s call to meet with its delegation in Cuba to arrange a bilateral ceasefire. The ELN’s delegation has remained in Cuba despite the breakdown in negotiations and the Duque government’s efforts to have them extradited to Colombia to face criminal charges in violation of the agreement pursuant to which the dialogues were organized.

According to official statements, the attack was carried out following a major joint operation in which military intelligence units located the ELN camp (located on the border between the provinces of Antoquia and Bolivia), and the Air Force subsequently launched a bombing operation. Special Forces troops were then deployed to secure the area.

The attack caused numerous casualties including at least two senior commanders of the ELN. The Defence Minister, Carlos Holmes Trujillo, confirmed on Thursday afternoon (14 May) that the Military Forces carried out a coordinated operation against an ELN encampment, resulting in the death of alias ‘Mocho Tierra’ and three of his lieutenants. ‘Mocho Tierra’ was considered one of the senior commanders of the ‘Dario Ramirez Castro’ front of the insurgent group (a regional unit active in the provinces of Antioquia, Bolívar and Santander).

Biggs Introduces ‘Buzz Off Act’ To Stop Policing With ‘Nosy Little Drones’

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Biggs, R-AZ, introduced Tuesday the “Buzz Off Act” to stop federal law enforcement agencies from using drones to surveil and target Americans, which, he says, violates our constitutional rights.

“Although we are living in unprecedented times, we must not compromise our long recognized constitutional rights,” Biggs said in a statement.

“Overseas, the Chinese and Spanish governments have already been using drones to impose stay-at-home orders, and some state and local governments here in the United States have taken notice,” he added. “In California, drones have been equipped with speakers and cameras to help enforce the coronavirus lockdown; in at least one New Jersey city, these devices are being deployed to harangue citizens into heeding social distancing guidelines.”

“Any freedom-loving American is left to wonder: what’s next? The Fourth Amendment and decades of Supreme Court precedent grant all American citizens a right to privacy,” he continued. “I won’t let our nation be transformed into a police state, nor will I sit idly by and let a soulless machine tell me how to live my life. These nosy little drones need to buzz off!”

The use of drones has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic as law enforcement continues to use them to enforce strict lockdowns in many states. Last week, a group of Republican lawmakers sent a letter to the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security raising concerns that some of those drones are produced by Da Jiang Innovations (DJI), a Chinese-owned company, which donated 100 drones for “45 police, fire and public safety organizations in 22 states” amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Moreover, many U.S. government agencies have outlawed any purchase of such drones over the grave national security concerns, including the Interior Department, which “temporarily retired” the drones and the U.S. military, which has been banned from using and purchasing them under the National Defense Authorization Act.

Sidney Powell Delivers Writ of Mandamus to Correct Judge Sullivan’s Unauthorized Actions in General Flynn Case – Orders Dismissal of Case Against Gen. Flynn

Attorney Sidney Powell announced on Tuesday morning that Team Flynn has just delivered to the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit a Petition for Writ of Mandamus to correct Judge Sullivan’s unauthorized actions.

This comes after Judge Emmet Sullivan REFUSED to drop the case against General Flynn even though the US Government prosecutors dropped ALL CHARGES against the Three-Star General.

The Barr Justice Department dropped its case against General Mike Flynn last Thursday after bombshell documents were released that proved he was framed by Comey’s FBI.

But last Tuesday the Clinton-appointed Judge Emmet Sullivan made a dirty, political move to delay justice for General Mike Flynn.

Judge Sullivan extended the case by soliciting amicus briefs to allow for public comment on Flynn’s criminal case.

Judge Sullivan also appointed retired Clinton appointee judge John Gleeson to argue against the government’s motion to dismiss the charge against Flynn!

This is unheard of!

This came after the US Supreme Court just one week ago ruled that rogue judges CANNOT do what Judge Sullivan is wanting to do.

The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 to prevent judges like Emmet Sullivan from becoming tyrants on the bench.

So today Flynn’s defense team filed their Writ of Mandamus.

Grenell Declassifies Full Text of Susan Rice’s January 20, 2017 Email About Secret Oval Office Meeting

Senate Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-WI) wrote a letter to US Attorney General William Barr on Monday requesting he declassify the remaining portion of Susan Rice’s January 20, 2017 email to herself about the secret Oval Office meeting with the coup cabal.

“I request you review and declassify the remaining portion of Ambassador Rice’s January 20, 2017, email and provide it to my office,” Johnson wrote.

Recall, Senator Grassley uncovered a bizarre, partially declassified email former NatSec Advisor to Barack Obama, Susan Rice sent herself on January 20th 2017–Donald Trump’s inauguration day.

Grenell declassified the entire email, however it has not been released to the public yet.

In February 2018, Chuck Grassley (R-IA) posted to his official Senate website:

Ambassador Rice appears to have used this email to document a January 5, 2017 Oval Office meeting between President Obama, former FBI Director James Comey and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates regarding Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election. In particular, Ambassador Rice wrote:

“President Obama began the conversation by stressing his continued commitment to ensuring that every aspect of this issue is handled by the Intelligence and law enforcement communities ‘by the book’. The President stressed that he is not asking about, initiating or instructing anything from a law enforcement perspective. He reiterated that our law enforcement team needs to proceed as it normally would by the book.”

Grassley doubted the FBI, DOJ or State Department proceeded ‘by the book.’

Grassley said in a letter to Susan Rice:

“It strikes us as odd that, among your activities in the final moments on the final day of the Obama administration, you would feel the need to send yourself such an unusual email purporting to document a conversation involving President Obama and his interactions with the FBI regarding the Trump/Russia investigation. In addition, despite your claim that President Obama repeatedly told Mr. Comey to proceed ‘by the book,’ substantial questions have arisen about whether officials at the FBI, as well as at the Justice Department and the State Department, actually did proceed ‘by the book.’”

Senator Johnson wanted the remaining portion of Susan Rice’s letter declassified so the American people know what happened in the secret Oval Office meeting shortly before Donald Trump was sworn in as US President.

UN Suggests No Longer Using “Husband/Wife”

The United Nations has begun working towards creating a “more equal world.”

And it does so in the most arbitrary way possible: stop people from saying “husband/wife” and “boyfriend/girlfriend”

“What you say matters. Help create a more equal world by using gender-neutral language if you’re unsure about someone’s gender or are referring to a group,” states the tweet.
