But optics are important as well, and if Trump tells the CDC to pound sand, and holds doctors/hospitals accountable for deaths without HCQ, they can come back and ask for 1) his degree in medicine, and 2) ask him to prove that those people wouldn't have died if they had been given HCQ - and he can't prove a negative.
It's difficult when you're dealing with people whose credentials and status in society are held by millions of normies to be utterly trustworthy. Few people can wrap their heads around the concept that the doctor they have trusted with their lives wants to kill them.
