>need a bigger Gitmo

Not likely anon, considering not one single person has been prosecuted for anything at all

It appears the plan is to wait until the judicial and law enforcement agencies are reformed and largely non-comped

Anyone who is eventually prosecuted and convicted will not be going to Gitmo but just to regular detention facilities

We are looking at a small number of people, most likely in 2021-2022

That's a good question, without being privy to details of the conditions at Gitmo before, I can think of a couple rationales for expanding and improving

  • Makes it useful for the long term at the best possible price, in case there were any changes that were needed to the detention facilities. If you are going to improve and repair, you can save a shitload of money doing an expansion at the same time

  • Symbolically, in contrast to Obama's supposed plan to shut it down, making it bigger and better puts an exclamation point on what a complete failure Barack Obama's presidency was

  • Make it clear to the Cubans that we ain't goin' anywhere

  • Make it clear to enemies around the world that we have plenty of room for all of them

"Arrests" is the less likely outcome

"Reforms" is what we will see, with a gradual replacement of a number of high-level "swamp" personnel with Trump's hand-picked people

Some here will be disappointed by no arrests but they do not realize what a stranglehold the Democrats have on the SES and other top positions

Yes, agreed, some people are going to have to take a fall but it will not be a lot of people and they will not be the ones at the top

(that's pretty much how it always works with these things as everyone knows - lieutenants go to jail while generals walk away quietly)
