>But Carlssin never gave up his sources. However he admitted that he made a tactical error. As part of his plea bargain. He offered to tell authorities the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden and a cure for aids. It’s not known whether he did reveal these secrets. Though determined to prove him a liar, the FBI could find no records of Carlssin’s existence before December 2002. Merely three months before they picked him up.

>More puzzlingly, an unidentified benefactor posted his $1 mln bail on 3th of April Carlssin was due in court for a bail hearing. He disappeared on the way to the hearing and never has been seen again."

Basically, he struck a deal with authorities, and they went along with the "bizarre" claim

The moment they received the million dollars in bail money, the courts no longer have reason to prosecute.

I've been in jail with someone convicted of murder, given a $750,000 bail (no 10%) despite being a dual-citizen flight risk, in a city right next to a Border, and he flat out told us that he was getting off of the charge the second he posted bail. Why? Because if he didn't show up to court, then the court gets to keep all his money. and it doesn't cost them a thing to house him. If he does show up in court, then the process costs everyone a considerable amount of time and money. Furthermore, not only could a mistake made by prosecutors or police allow the murder to walk, sometimes those types of slip-ups could actually lead to settlements for the criminal, where they actually get paid more to commit a crime than they would if the worked hard for their entire lives.

In the case of this "time traveler", there was obviously big money involved, an dude could spend a considerable amount on his defense to make the prosecutors and courts look like jack-asses. Instead, he could have struck a deal (off the record) to pay certain entities a chunk of change to go along with the outrageous story, and scheme up a "mysterious" disappearance. One that's so crazy, the public might believe it simply out of awe or wonder. At least enough to appease the masses. And let's be honest, an independent researcher would have to spend a considerable amount of time trying to investigate something they may never be able to prove otherwise, as the people involved in writing the reports and keeping the records would do everything in their power to cover-up an off the record payment, while citing the million dollar bail money as a "win" for the courts, and the tax-payers.
