Afternoon Anons.
Dig some digging and mashed up the most recent mortality statistics from the CDC websites for Covid-19 deaths with the political bias classification for state governors provided by the OnTheIssues website.
Provisional COVID-19 Death Counts by Sex, Age, and State

Governors on the Issues

Every governor with the exception of Ralph Northam from Virginia was tagged as either "Left Liberal", "Moderate", or "Right Conservative", with a few of them walking exactly the line between Moderate-Left and Moderate-Right. So I graphed the CDC death statistics by state with each state tagged as having the bias attributed to its governor. I skipped Northam, though I feel he is safely "Left Liberal" or "Moderate Left Liberal". And I grouped the Moderate line walkers with the Moderates in one graph, and with their larger affiliations in a second graph.
With Florida being a conservative retirement state hosting our most at-risk age group for Covid-19, I expected the results to be agnostic to political bias. The virus, after all, is neither conservative or liberal and pleased to make a home where ever it may. I was a little surprised by the results. Not shocked but surprised.
