And so it starts in Canada……

PM Trudeau: Feds will soon 'strongly' recommend contact tracing app

OTTAWA – Responding to the need to increase the capacity to trace any possible contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the federal government will soon be “strongly recommending” Canadians download a to-be-determined monitoring and exposure notification app.

In the meantime federal employees are ready to make thousands of contact tracing calls a day, seven days a week.

During his Friday morning address outlining the latest federal pandemic measures, Trudeau said that the federal government has trained federal employees who can make 3,600 contact tracing calls a day, and in addition, Statistics Canada has trained another 1,700 interviewers who can make up to 20,000 calls a day.

Fuck him is all I have to say…..

Multiple checkpoints to enforce travel orders to be set up in Delaware this weekend… All this for a virus?

LEWES, Del.- Prepare for multiple checkpoints in Delaware this weekend, say Delaware State Police.

On Friday evening, troopers conducted a checkpoint on Southbound Route One near Lewes. State Police confirm the checkpoint was to enforce and educate drivers on Governor Carney's travel orders.

"Our intent is to achieve voluntary compliance with the main purpose of being educational and informative," explains Heather Pepper, a Delaware State Police Public Information Officer. "Rather than being punitive and resulting in enforcement action."

Friday's checkpoint north of the Nassau Bridge reduced travel to a single lane. One driver told WRDE he was backed up all the way from Route 16. Pepper said Friday's checkpoint was one of many planned for the weekend in the First State.

Currently, out-of-state travelers are required to quarantine for 14 days after arriving in Delaware. People may only leave their homes for medical treatment. Short-term-rentals are still restricted to essential workers.

Hertz files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy (Victim of Covidiocy…)

Hertz, one of the largest rental car companies in the world, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Friday evening, the company announced in a press release.

The big picture: This is the latest in a string of major retail bankruptcies this month, all emerging in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

What they're saying: Hertz locations will remain open for now, and the company says it has over $1 billion in cash on hand to support operations.

"The impact of COVID-19 on travel demand was sudden and dramatic, causing an abrupt decline in the Company's revenue and future bookings. Hertz took immediate actions to prioritize the health and safety of employees and customers, eliminate all non-essential spending and preserve liquidity. However, uncertainty remains as to when revenue will return and when the used-car market will fully re-open for sales, which necessitated today's action."

— the company said on Friday

'COVER-UP': Trudeau's health minister won't let Dr. Tam answer questions about national medical stockpile disaster

t a meeting of the Parliamentary operations committee, NDP MP Matthew Green posed a question to Dr. Tam about whether the national stockpile was not properly funded or if it was mandated to store the PPE necessary for the coronavirus pandemic—a question Canadians would like answers to.

However, before Dr. Tam could answer, she was interrupted by Health Minister Patty Hadju who told the committee that cabinet discussions are confidential.

This moment was captured by the Globe's Marieke Walsh in a tweet on Friday:

"At gov't operations committee NDP MP Matthew Green asks Dr. Tam if she ever advised the gov't that the national stockpile was underfunded or not properly mandated to stock PPE, Health Min Hajdu interjects before Dr. Tam answers, says cabinet discussions are confidential."

The lack of response by the Trudeau government caught the eye of Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre who simply tweeted "Cover-up."

MPs have vowed to get to the bottom of the woeful mismanagement of the national stockpile of pandemic medical supplies.

The shortages led to the Trudeau government having to purchase billions of PPE from China. The vice-president of the Public Health Agency Sally Thornton had previously refused to disclose just how much equipment was discarded before the pandemic.

Two million N95 masks and 440,000 medical gloves were thrown out by the Trudeau government after one emergency stockpile warehouse was shut down in Regina.

The silence on the part of Dr. Tam and Hadju on Friday raises even more questions as to the totality of the mismanagement of the Canadian stockpile.
