I've often wondered whether the reason we were able to go to the moon back in 1969 was because our lack of understanding of the Universe made it possible. Since then, we've been blinded by scientific discoveries, which have re-written reality to what we see today. Going to the moon is no longer possible, due to all the horrible things we've discovered out there.
