POTUS REMARKS ON MI DAM BREAK-SENDS WHITE CASTLE CORPS

President Donald Trump said he would visit Michigan to assess damage, and that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would assist local authorities in emergency repairs.

“I just spoke with Gretchen Whitmer. I will be going to Michigan at the appropriate time,” Trump said, according to a White House press pool report. “They have a big problem with the dams breaking. And so we’ve sent FEMA and the Army Corps of Engineers out."

San Francisco Fire Department Lt. Jonathan Baxter tells KCBS Radio there's a four-alarm fire at a warehouse building at Pier 45 at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.

Part of a wall at the structure has collapsed.

Trump orders Raimondo to reopen churches in Rhode Island-May 22, 2020.

The battle is on. President Trump has ordered Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo to reopen Rhode Island churches and Raimondo has refused. The President cites his power as President of the United States for Governor Raimondo to immediately open the churches in the State Of Rhode Island which remained closed under her Executive Order. Raimondo was asked about it twice at her Friday press briefing but refuses the order from President Trump. Bishop Tobin took to Twitter to explain church is considered essential is a breakthrough but refused to cross Governor Raimondo.

The Religious Freedom Restoration Act passed by Congress in 1993 gave churches and individuals the right to sue over even widely applicable laws that interfere with religion. However, in 1997, the Supreme Court ruled it was unconstitutional to apply the new federal law to states or municipalities. Some states have passed their own RFRA laws, but they don’t all go as far as the federal one.
