I can't untwist this in my head.

Appelate Court had the option to allow the Judge a representitive to respond but they rejected that option and instead ordered him to. He is an Officer of the Court. He hired a lawyer to respond on his behalf. If a crime was committed he would be entitled to that. If no crime he isn't.

He is an officer of the Court directed to respond . Why would he hire a lawyer to represent his opinion when he could dictate his words to a clerk? He did made the decision to do this while acting in official capacity. His clerk would type up the response in their official capacity. Why would he either hire a lawyer to prepresent him personally, or cost the tax payers extra money to have someone else be paid to do the work a clerk is paid to do?
