Trump Considering Forming Panel To Review Anti-Conservative Bias In Big Tech: Report

President Donald Trump is considering forming a commission to review anti-conservative bias on social media platforms, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the idea. A potential White House-created commission would examine allegations of online bias and censorship, according to the report. The administration will also encourage the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Election Commission to conduct similar reviews, the sources told the WSJ. “Left-wing bias in the tech world is a concern that definitely needs to be addressed from our vantage point, and at least exposed [so] that Americans have clear eyes about what we’re dealing with,” a White House official told the paper.

The president told his Twitter followers in a May 16 tweet that his administration is pursuing ways to mitigate alleged conservative bias at Facebook, Twitter, and Google. “The Radical Left is in total command & control of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google,” Trump wrote, adding: “working to remedy this illegal situation.”

Facebook dismissed the allegation. “People on both sides of the aisle disagree with some of the positions we’ve taken, but we remain committed to seeking outside perspectives and communicating clearly about why we make the decisions we do,” the company said in a press statement. Twitter also pushed back, as did Google and the Internet Association (IA). “We enforce the Twitter Rules impartially for all users, regardless of their background or political affiliation,” Twitter said in a statement to the WSJ. Google builds its products with care and “safeguards to be a trustworthy source of information for everyone, without any regard for political viewpoint,” a spokeswoman for Google said in a statement addressing the report. “Online platforms do not have a political bias, and offer more people a chance to have their voice heard than at any point in history,” Jon Berroya, interim president of IA, a trade group, told the WSJ.

Trump routinely addresses what he believes is Google and Facebook’s bias. His administration orchestrated a White House social media summit in 2019, inviting many popular conservative social media influencers to discuss ways in which big tech companies are supposedly harassing them. “Somebody said he’s controversial,” the president said of activist James O’Keefe, who published several reports that year detailing what some conservatives believe is Google’s bias. “He’s truthful.” Trump has skewered Silicon Valley in the past, telling his Twitter followers in March 2019 that he is looking into accusations that Facebook is suppressing content.

$21 Million Brooklyn Field Hospital Shuts Down: COVID-19 Patients Treated — Zero

A $21 million field hospital in Brooklyn, New York, built to deal exclusively with a predicted flood of COVID-19 patients, has been shut down. The number of COVID-19 patients treated? Zero, The City reported.

The facility was part of Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s demand for thousands of additional hospital beds for what he predicted would be a massive influx of COVID patients. The city built smaller facilities at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center (350 beds) and Stony Point on Long Island, along with a 2,910-bed medical center at the Javitz Center. All told, the city shelled out $350 million for facilities it never needed.

The City reported: Earlier this month, the makeshift hospital at the tennis center closed after taking in 79 patients, according to City Hall officials. It cost $19.8 million to construct and revert back, the officials said. The lower-profile Red Hook terminal hospital was slated to open in mid-April but wasn’t ready for service until May 4. By then, citywide hospital utilization had already fallen by half its April 12 highpoint, to about 6,000 patients. City officials say the $20.8 million site, constructed by Texas-based contractor SLSCO under a no-bid emergency contract, is now being demobilized after seeing no medical activity.

The same thing happened with the Javitz Center, which Cuomo demanded the feds turn into a hospital, outfitted with expensive medical equipment and nearly 3,000 beds. How’d that work out? “As of April 7, the convention center had admitted only 66 patients,” Business Insider reported. By April 20, Javitz had treated just 1,000 patients. Cuomo also demanded that President Donald Trump dispatch a Navy ship (that was, at the time, in port being overhauled) to New York City ASAP. Mr. Trump ordered the USNS Comfort, outfitted with 500 beds to handle the overflow from packed hospitals, up to New York City. Turns out that wasn’t needed, either. “Nearly 90% of the US Navy hospital ship in New York is empty amid coronavirus fight,” CNBC wrote in mid-April. “As of Friday [April 17], 71 of the USNS Comfort’s 500 beds were occupied.” By the end, the ship was little used. “The USNS Comfort, a hospital ship operated by the U.S. Navy that arrived following Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s pleas for federal assistance, treated 182 patients during its nearly four weeks docked at Pier 90 in midtown Manhattan, according to ABC-7 news.” The ship was sent home after Cuomo said, “we don’t need it any more.”

Who’s footing the bill for all this? City officials “expect the Federal Emergency Management Agency to pick up the costs for both of the temporary hospitals — which include an additional $2 million paid out to a second firm for construction management,” The City reported. “The federal Army Corps of Engineers also spent more than $350 million for field hospitals in the New York City region that had been sought by Cuomo but were never utilized — including $136 million for a facility at Stony Brook on Long Island, according to the Associated Press,” The City wrote.

Michael Moore Torches Biden: He Lacks ‘Necessary Enthusiasm’ to Beat Trump

Left-wing documentary filmmaker Michael Moore said former Vice President Joe Biden doesn’t have what it takes to beat President Donald Trump. “Biden does not generate the necessary enthusiasm that it’s going to take to get people out,” Moore told Vanity Fair‘s Tom Kludt in a recent interview. “The Democrats are cynically counting on everyone’s desire to remove Trump.” “This has been a crazy year, a crazy election year, a crazy year on so many levels,” Moore said. “Anything you would have predicted back in December or January is out the window. The year we thought we were going to have on any level is out the window. So if it’s all out the window, what else is out the window?”“Nothing is lined up right this year. Just because he’s got the most delegates and everybody’s conceded, it doesn’t mean he’s going to be the nominee,” Moore said of Biden. “They’re not even going to have a real convention. Anything can happen.”

Moore — who endorsed and even stumped for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) during the campaign — then claimed that the Democrat Party “ditched” Biden earlier this year when he “was losing everything so badly.” “The Democratic establishment ditched Biden back in January when he was losing everything so badly. What’d they do? They changed the debate rules to let Bloomberg in. They were so desperate,” the Academy Award-winner said. “They were ready to dump Biden like a hot potato, and they will do it again if they need to.”

Moore’s comment come as Biden is under heavy fire for saying to radio host Charlamagne tha God that he “ain’t black” if he votes for President Trump. Biden has since walked back those comments, saying he “shouldn’t have been such a wise guy.” But by then, #YouAintBlack and #JoeBidenIsARacist were both national trending hashtags on Twitter.
