ILS is one of several "instrument approaches" anon. I seem to remember that the crew was shooting a NBD approach and not an ILS. NDB is a "non precision" approach. Ceiling and viability minimums are way higher than a precision approach ie…….ILS. Mountainous terrain also for the RB flight. Shooting a ADF approach in bad weather, at night and in mountainous terrain? Your ass better be on it!!!
