Thanks for the personal insight. I also have seen this concept play out: When conscience & morality & hope dies in a person, then subsconsciously their mind & body do not really care how much longer they live, and they may become reckless beyond all reason as they 'rush towards final destruction.'
What makes it tragic is that there is an evil spiritual realm with evil beings committed to destroying people - NOT focused on worthless loser idiots who would never have become anything good anyway - but focused on people who actually had beautiful souls & big hearts. They get seduced into the dark side one way or another, mostly through trauma, hurt, and loss.
These 'victories' for the evil realm, when they turn an innocent person into a monster, are more valuable trophies than turning some cold hearted muerder into a serial killer.
