Here's a good response I heard on Mark Levin: They already had repeating firearms at the time of the American Revolution, but they were prohibitively expensive to use in war. The point being that the Founding Fathers were already seeing technology advances, and had guns much more advanced than the, "shove a patch with gunpowder down the barrel, drop the musket ball in, fire once, rinse, repeat."
