It would be awesome if part of the rearchitecting of social media would include that it would provide links to content, as well as caching of content, like a kind of cloud.
but it would encourage 'archive off line' so if it disappears from the servers of the social media company, a list of mirrors will let you fill it right back up.
make the model of social media to include the MOS: media object server. Each person would have scores of these for all of their various content and it would all be backed up and protected.
so when you went to a twit page or a FB page you'd get the content, but you'd also get hyperlinks that would give you the parts if the FB and twit people won't save them for you anymore.
it would be servers that you own.
it would be your content.
they would have no right to alter it.
and commenting on it, whatever, just filter it.
without this kind of redesign, the web will continue to be a place to bait and shame, as the marxists have made it.
