Why Has Putin Appointed a New Special Representative for Syria?
Putin has named Aleksandr Yefimov as a special representative for Syria, taking control away from the defense ministry and putting it back in the hands of the Kremlin reports Alsouria Net. Sabra believes that this conflict between the three Russian mafias pushed Putin to resolve the matter, and hand over the Syrian file to a person affiliated with the Kremlin, so that it can be directly managed by the Kremlin itself.
He added: “Putin has realized that the conflict between the three mafias in Moscow is deeper and may have more dangerous repercussions. Of course, Putin plays the role of arbiter between the three mafias and preserves a delicate balance.”

'They just don't like each other': Inside the bitter rivalry between Annastacia Palaszczuk and Gladys Berejiklian that may be driving the ridiculous border dispute costing Australia BILLIONS
Annastacia Palaszczuk and Gladys Berejiklian 'just don't like each other'
The Queensland premier denied having bad blood with any state leaders
Ms Palaszczuk has been criticised for refusing to reopen her borders
Here’s how to help people impacted by Covid-19
The New South Wales and Queensland premiers have a frosty relationship which may be contributing to tensions about border closures during the coronavirus crisis, insiders say.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and New South Wales' Gladys Berejiklian 'just don't like each other', a former political insider has told Australian Financial Review.
While many Australians have been left bewildered by the premiers seemingly turning the road map out of the COVID-19 pandemic into a 'State of Origin-like' game of political brinkmanship, there's actually a history of bad blood that goes back at least three years.
The relationship reportedly soured after Ms Palaszczuk blew up when Ms Berejiklian tried to speak before the other premiers at her first Council of Australian Government meeting after she took over leadership from Mike Baird in 2017.
Traditionally, after the prime minister speaks, premiers are given the opportunity to speak in order of seniority - beginning with the person who has been in office the longest.
When Ms Berejiklian reportedly attempted to jump the queue, she was brutally shot down by Ms Palaszczuk who said: 'That's not how it works here'.
Ms Palaszczuk, who has been in office since 2015, should have gone before her.
Of course, a spokesman for Ms Palaszczuk denied the Queensland Premier had any strained relationships in government.
He said she had 'good relationships with her interstate colleagues'.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted both premiers for comment about the story.
The New South Wales leader has repeatedly questioned Queensland's border policies throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Sunshine State was quick to lock down the border to stem the spread of the deadly respiratory virus, and has indicated it may not reopen for tourists until September.
Queensland is taking a $769 million tourism revenue hit for every month it stays shut.

Israeli MDs fly to enemy Sudan in failed bid to save diplomat behind secret ties
TV report: Medical team hoped to transfer Najwa Gadaheldam back to Israel for treatment, but her condition was critical and she died; formally, the two countries are at war
Israel sent a plane with medical staff and equipment to Sudan in an attempt to save the life of a diplomat sick with COVID-19, who managed the clandestine ties between Jerusalem and Khartoum, Channel 13 reported Wednesday.
But 24 hours after their arrival, Najwa Gadaheldam passed away, just days after contracting the virus.
The plane landed in Khartoum on Tuesday carrying a senior official involved in ties with Sudan, medical staff and equipment, after hearing of her illness, according to the television report. The visiting team planned to transport Gadaheldam to Israel for treatment, but arrived too late, when she was already in critical condition.
The two countries are formally at war, and the story would likely have remained under wraps had the plane not been flagged on flight-tracking websites due to its unusual route.
During Sunday’s cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told ministers that he had spoken on the phone with Sudan’s leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan to send holiday wishes ahead of Eid al-Fitr that marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Channel 13 speculated that Gadaheldam’s condition likely came up during the call as well.

Amid virus vaccine hopes, Moderna top execs said to have sold millions in stocks
US biotech firm’s shares soar as it claims progress in trials; analysts says sales, including by Israeli chief medical officer, are legal but undermine faith in company’s future
Five top executives at US biotech firm Moderna, including its Israeli chief medical officer, have cashed out stocks worth $89 million this year as shares in the company soared after it reported successful initial human trials for its experimental anti-COVID-19 vaccine, US media reported.
On Monday CNN reported that Moderna’s Chief Financial Officer Lorence Kim and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tal Zaks executed options and sold nearly $30 million of shares combined on Monday and Tuesday of last week, citing SEC filings reviewed by CNN Business show.
On Wednesday the health and business-focused Stat news site reported that three other top execs had also sold stock, with the total combined sales of $89 million, representing a profit of some $80 million.
The reports stressed that the sales were legal, using a mechanism that allows company insiders to diversify assets without falling foul of insider trading regulations. However, analysts said such heavy selling at such a sensitive time undermined the credibility of the company and faith in its future success.
Share prices of the company soared after officials announced that its experimental anti-COVID-19 vaccine “actually works,” after tests on a small number of volunteers, and that it will start Phase 3 testing on thousands of people in July.
“We got the first results today… and today we are showing that it actually works… we are able to stimulate the immune system,” Zaks said in a May 18 interview with Israeli TV.
In the interview with Israeli television, Zaks said he was confident that, toward the end of the year, “we’ll be able to present first results that prove that our vaccine indeed prevents the disease.”
“By about the end of the year, the start of next year, there’s a reasonable likelihood that we’ll see this vaccine on the market, at least on the American market,” he said in the Channel 12 interview from Moderna’s headquarters in Massachusetts.
