I worked in sales for many years and I've always been amazed at what people respond to. You can't talk about the product you're actually selling or you'll lose most customers. Very few can be sold on the merits of the product itself. Most require some bit of ridicule or belittlement. I made tons of money as a salesman, but I had to be under the influence of something to do it, so I moved on from the profession and sobered up.
But I'm constantly amazed at how inverted this world is. If anyone had talked to me like I talked to so many people who ended up buying from me, I would have punched me in the face.
