In Japan, the elderly usually live with their families. In North America, we shove our old people into communes, and pay the lowest wages possible to immigrants who 'look after' them. Heck, most of the workers here are Filipinos. All it takes is one, or two, to go home to Asia for Christmas, then make the rounds of the nursing homes when they get back. Our seniors are easy pickings.
