Since we've been doing a lot of digging on pedo-related things, let me tell you all a story that really happened to me. This is why it's SO important to always take in your surroundings.
I was driving on a residential street and spotted something shiny in the road. I pulled over to take a look and saw it was a phone, presumably lost, and it probably was run over a few times, as it was broken and didn't turn on. I thought I'd try to return it to the rightful owner anyways, so I popped open the back of the phone and saw it had a microSD card inside. I figured there might be a name or contact info on the card, so I took it in. I popped it in my computer when I got home to scan through the contacts or see if there was any identifying information saved on the card. I began looking through the photos… Kids at a park, local little league game, inside of a house, really boring stuff. Then the photos got interesting. A selfie of a man who looked a bit unhinged, weed plants growing in a back yard, and a shotgun. I laughed a little. Someone's been naughty. That was it for the photos, but I saw there was something in the "Downloads" folder. I opened it out of curiosity. First photo? Little kid on the beach playing in the water with no clothes on. Innocent enough. Second photo? Little kid, naked, exiting what looked like a Jacuzzi with a few old men in the water. What the fuck? I looked at one more photo, a professional shot of a little boy in a highly suggestive pose, before understanding what it all was. I found the phone of a pedo. And then it clicked. He was taking photos of kids at a local park! This guy is SICK! Then I laughed. He had selfies and interior shots of his home on the phone too. This was wasn't smart either. So I went straight to the police station and turned it in. At first the cops seemed a bit skeptical when I told them what I found, but as soon as we went through the photos together, one cop got pale in the face and left to go to the bathroom, while the other one began shaking with rage. They thanked me and took the phone and card. I revived a call from a detective a few days later. To this day I don't know what happened with the guy, but at least I know I did the right thing. I later stopped at a park where a local baseball game was taking place and I talked to some of the security, parents, and workers there about the guy. I gave them a description and told them to call the police immediately if they ever saw the man.
This kind of stuff IS IN YOUR BACK YARD. So please, always be vigilant, and report anything that does not seem right.
