I've given a lot of thought to the aircraft accidents. We know that maintenance was essentially stopped during "sequestration." There are abundant news stories of aircraft mechanics having to go to museums and to the boneyards to get replacement parts.

The need to get spares in this way definitely makes me wonder about our overall safety and readiness.

Others have waxed conspiratorial about the QMS-11 chip. Some of this was deliberate disinfo from AIM. This chip is a position SENSOR. The pilots still have control of the aircraft using manual controls - at least on the models that are older.

I have been concerned about the fly-by-wire systems and the fact that the uninterruptable auto-pilot locks out the pilots on commercial aircraft.

The implications of back-doors in the control computers of ALL fly-by-wire computers should make us all fearful. Remember in the pilot episode of BSG, the Cylons turned off the computers.

Perhaps me having a 2002 Ford is a very good thing.

The implications for all military aircraft are staggering. If any bad actor can simply turn OFF an aircraft, we have to immediately pull the old gear out of the boneyard and press it back into service.

Perhaps Q could use a keyword of BSG or Cylons to let us know.
