Illinois police officer charged with possessing child pornography

SALEM, Wis. — An Illinois police officer residing in Wisconsin was charged Thursday with 10 counts of possessing child pornography.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force led the investigation. The following agencies provided valuable assistance: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office; Ontario Provincial Police; Tower Lakes Police Department (Illinois); Prairie Grove Police Department (Illinois); and, Lake County Sheriff’s Office (Illinois).

On May 27, 2020, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Mark A. Paglini residence in Salem, Wisconsin.

Paglini was later arrested and booked in the Kenosha County Jail.

As in any criminal proceeding, Paglini is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This investigation was conducted under HSI’s Operation Predator, an international initiative to protect children from sexual predators. Since the launch of Operation Predator in 2003, HSI has arrested more than 25,000 individuals for crimes against children, including the production and distribution of online child exploitation material, traveling overseas for sex with minors, and sex trafficking of children. In fiscal year 2019, more than 3,500 child predators were arrested by HSI special agents under this initiative and more than 1,000 victims identified or rescued.

Klobuchar: ‘It Is a Lie’ I Declined to Prosecute Police Officer Involved in Floyd Death

Friday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) said it was “a lie” that as the chief legal officer of Hennepin County, MN she declined to charge Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for his role in the shooting death of Wayne Reyes in October 2006.

Chauvin is the police officer seen on video with his knee on George Floyd’s neck for several minutes.

Klobuchar said, “Honestly, yesterday, when these reports came out about this officer, I was with our community, and my number one focus was the city that was burning. And now I have this opportunity to address this. Let me start with the specific case. This idea that I somehow declined a case which has been reported on some news blogs and then sent out on the internet against this officer is absolutely false. It is a lie. I don’t know what else to say about it than it is a lie.”

She continued, “The case was investigated. That investigation continued into a time where I was already sworn I the U.S. Senate. I never declined the case. It was handled and sent to the grand jury. My successor’s office said it was not my place to make decisions because the decision was made when I was in the U.S. Senate. In fact, nine months after I was in the Senate is when it went to the grand jury.”

She added, “Now let me address the bigger issue. I have said repeatedly back when I was the county attorney, cases we had involved with officer-involved shootings went to grand jury. That was true across our state and many jurisdictions across the country. I think that was wrong now. I think it would have been much better if I took the responsibility and looked at the cases and made the decision myself. But let me make this clear, we did not blow off these cases. We brought them to a grand jury, presented the evidence for a potential criminal prosecution, and the grand jury would come back with the decision. That is how we handled the cases. That aside, I want to move forward. And I think the best way we move forward is, one, prosecutors taking responsibility themselves.”

US President Donald Trump has announced the US is "terminating" its relationship with the World Health Organization (WHO) after he accused the United Nations agency of a pro-China bias.

After months of accusing China of having failed to halt the spread of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus, and the WHO, in turn, of having failed to hold Beijing to account, Trump announced on Friday the United States was severing ties with the WHO.

"Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization and redirecting those funds to other worldwide and deserving urgent global public health needs," Trump said in comments outside the White House.

The US is the WHO's single largest funding provider, supplying the UN agency with between $212 and $513 million per year, giving it $453 million last year, according to administration officials.

'They Broke Their Word': Trump Says Hong Kong No Longer Autonomous From China

During a Friday press conference at the White House, US President Donald Trump declared that "Hong Kong is no sufficiently autonomous to warrant the special treatment that we have afforded the territory" and is therefore subject to a number of restrictions.

"We will be revising the State Department’s travel advisory for Hong Kong to reflect the increased danger of surveillance and punishment by the Chinese state security apparatus," Trump noted.

The US president's comments concerning Hong Kong come just a day after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made a similar assertion to Congress.

Pompeo argued that "Hong Kong does not continue to warrant treatment under United States laws in the same manner as US laws were applied to Hong Kong before July 1997."

This position follows the Chinese parliament's passing of a resolution to draft a security law that would prohibit secessionism in Hong Kong.

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, Space-X, and Paypal, recently posted a series of Tweets pointing out how media organizations have an obvious incentive to give bad press to electric cars and alternative energy in general.

Musk was unforgiving towards the mainstream media in his epic Twitter rant, calling them hypocrites and saying that the public no longer trusts them. He said that he doesn’t advertise for Tesla, his electric car company, which means that he contributes no money to the media, who depend on advertising dollars to stay in business.

On the other hand, the traditional auto industry and fossil fuel companies are among the world’s largest advertisers, meaning that they are one of the primary industries keeping the mainstream media in business. When it comes time to cover a story that involves these industries, journalists, and media organizations have an obvious bias and conflict of interest that will influence their coverage of the story even if they were not given explicit orders to create propaganda.

“The holier-than-thou hypocrisy of big media companies who lay claim to the truth, but publish only enough to sugarcoat the lie, is why the public no longer respects them. Problem is journos are under constant pressure to get max clicks & earn advertising dollars or get fired. Tricky situation, as Tesla doesn’t advertise, but fossil fuel companies & gas/diesel car companies are among world’s biggest advertisers,” Musk said.

One of the dark secrets of the advertising industry is the fact that commercials are not always intended to sell something, but are sometimes an undercover bribe, which corporations use to control the narrative on the sponsored news sources. An obvious example of this is how military arms suppliers like Boeing or Lockheed Martin will advertise on major networks despite the fact that their products are not available for sale to the people watching the advertisements.

It is no coincidence that international stories are covered with a pro-war slant on every major media platform when the arms dealers are advertising on each one—in fact, that is the very reason they advertise. The same goes for recruitment ads for the military, these serve the double purpose of recruiting and also controlling the narrative of the media outlet by becoming their sponsor.

In Russia collusion hoax, Rod Rosenstein must be held accountable for his flagrant misconduct

There is a lot to this sordid story … and many more questions for the reprehensible Rosenstein.

ormer Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is a master of prevarication and deflection. He holds an M.S. in BS and a Ph.D. in vacuous excuses. He’s a professor emeritus of duplicity and deception. As a prodigious suck-up, he’s the Eddie Haskell of lawyers.

We can expect Rosenstein’s skill set to be on full display Wednesday when he finally and belatedly appears before the Senate Judiciary Committee as its first witness in an investigation into the origins and evolution of the fallacious Trump-Russia collusion probe.

During his ignominious tenure at the Justice Department, Rosenstein was at the center of the Russia hoax, pulling the investigatory levers of manipulation over an imaginary collusion conspiracy that eventually went bust. But not before incalculable damage was done to the Trump presidency, government institutions, and America’s faith in our system of justice.

Before his departure from the Justice Department in May 2019, Rosenstein consistently spurned most attempts by Congress to explain his inexplicable actions and shady tactics. He was a profile in cowardice. Perhaps now he will be held to account. It won’t be easy.

Rosenstein holds an M.S. in BS and a Ph.D. in vacuous excuses.

When the truth is at issue, Rosenstein is as slippery as an eel. He’s deathly allergic to personal and professional responsibility. Everyone else is to blame. When in doubt, deny it ever happened. In Rosenstein’s orbit, integrity is a mythical platitude.

FBI Investigation Was Illegitimate

Rosenstein’s testimony comes at a critical juncture. Just recently, the FBI document that launched the Trump-Russia Witch Hunt was declassified and made public. The FBI Electronic Communication (EC) dated July 31, 2016, identifies not a single scrap of plausible evidence that justified the bureau’s investigation of the Trump campaign.

Under FBI regulations governing the opening of a formal probe, the agency is required to present specific articulable facts and credible evidence in support of a crime. None was stated in the EC. Hence, there was never a factual predicate nor a reasonable basis that warranted what then-FBI Director James Comey’s bureau was doing.

Moreover, there was no reliable intelligence information to merit a counterintelligence probe, which was a cleverly contrived cover for a criminal investigation.

Undeterred, then-FBI agent Peter Strzok engineered what can only be described as a “phantom” EC record to target the Trump campaign with a baseless investigation in search of a crime.

Netflix docuseries soft-pedals Clinton ties to Jeffrey Epstein

'Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich' is co-produced by ex-president's writing partner James Patterson.

Netflix’s Democratic ties run deep, from its litany of left-leaning content to its highest profile board member, former Obama National Security Advisor Susan Rice.

That doesn’t count the streaming platform’s megadeal with Barack and Michelle Obama.

Netflix’s newest original program, “Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich,” appears to intensify that tilt, downplaying former President Bill Clinton’s murky ties to the late financier and convicted sex offender’s inner circle.

The four-part docuseries was co-produced by author James Patterson’s entertainment company. Patterson co-wrote a political thriller with Clinton in 2018, “The President Is Missing.” The two are now collaborating on a second thriller, “The President's Daughter,” scheduled for publication in June, 2021.

Patterson, who also appears in the docuseries, has called working with Mr. Clinton “a highlight of my career.”

“Filthy Rich” lets Epstein’s alleged victims share how the late multimillionaire groomed and trafficked them for the gratification of his and others’ carnal appetites.

Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre (nee Roberts) says famed attorney Alan Dershowitz and Prince Andrew sexually assaulted her. “Filthy Rich” allows Dershowitz to categorically deny the charges against him on camera. (“I can tell you, categorically, I don’t remember meeting her at all,” Prince Andrew said in a November television interview, adding, “I’ve said consistently and frequently that we never had any sort of sexual contact whatsoever.”)

Far less is said about Clinton’s connections to Epstein. The docuseries repeatedly brings up President Donald Trump’s history with Epstein, from pictures of the two together in social settings more than a decade ago to the role Trump’s former Labor Secretary, Alexander Acosta, played in Epstein’s notorious plea bargain in 2008.

The latter takes up a considerable amount of screen time.

In the fourth episode, we see an MSNBC news clip where Clinton’s press secretary downplays their past relationship.

“He’s not spoken to Epstein in well over a decade, and he’s never been to Little St. James Island, Epstein’s Ranch in New Mexico or his residence in Florida,” the statement reads.

“Filthy Rich” follows that with a CBS News report showing at least 26 times Clinton flew on what would later be known as the “Lolita Express,” Epstein’s private jet, from 2001 to 2003. Said jet featured a bed where accusers say sexual assaults took place.

Steve Scully, a former Epstein employee, says he remembers seeing Clinton and Epstein on the latter’s island.

Giuffre notes she spotted Clinton as well, although that location isn’t made clear in the documentary. She says she didn’t see him behave in an improper fashion at the time.

We then see a title card saying, “Former President Bill Clinton denies ever having been to Epstein’s private island.”

The docuseries also left out the painting of Bill Clinton wearing a blue dress and heels that prominently hung in Epstein's New York City townhouse.

Entertainment Weekly interviewed “Filthy Rich” director Lisa Bryant about the special and its revelations. She reveals she found a second witness who recalled seeing Clinton on the island, but he or she didn’t make the series’ final cut.

Fed Reveals Which ETFs It Has Bought So Far

Back in April, we published a list of which ETFs Goldman thought the Fed would purchase as part of its Secondary Market Corporate Credit Facility, which among others, included the HYG and JNK ETFs that held bonds by bankruptcy Hertz as we reported over the weekend.

Perhaps in response to inbound inquiries following that publication, moments ago, the Fed for the first time reported which ETFs it held as Of May 19, just days after its started purchasing ETFs in the open market (the transaction level detail can be found here).

As shown in the table below, the Fed's purchases were left by the iShares investment grade ETF LQD (at $326MM), followed by two Vanguard corporate bond ETFs, the VCIT ($228MM) and VCSH ($226MM), with the junk bond ETFs, HYG and JNK in 4th and 5th place owning $89.5MM and $88.3MM, respectively.

The Fed also announced that Bank of America was the largest market participant in the ETF purchasing program (the SMCCF) with 40 trades, accounting for $337MM in purchases.

The list above is as of May 19 which means that the total notional amount of purchases has increased substantially since then. In its latest H.4.1 statement published yesterday, the Fed announced that as of May 26, it had purchased a total of $3 billion of corporate debt-tracking funds as of May 26, accounting for about 1.2% of the $252.7 billion market for credit ETFs.

In a curious twist, the Fed reported total assets held in its Secondary Market Corporate Credit Facility, at $34.8 billion in the latest release, a sharp increase from the prior week. However, a note with the release explained that this reflected the U.S. Treasury Department’s equity contribution to the facility to shield the Fed from losses, of which 85% must be invested in non-marketable Treasury securities and reported in the net holdings of the program.

Delaware News Station Threatens to Have GOP Congressional Candidate Arrested for Press Conference

Delaware news station WBOC has threatened to have America First congressional candidate Lauren Witzke arrested if she held a press conference in front of their station.

Witzke, who is running on a net zero immigration moratorium and putting Americans First, has been supporting the owner of the V Spa, which received a cease and desist notice from the state for planning to reopen in protest of the shut down order.

“Governor Carney’s excessive COVID-19 lockdowns have reached a boiling point today,” Witzke told the Gateway Pundit. “Not is he preventing small business owners from putting food on the table for their families, but now he’s clearly violated the First Amendment in threatening to arrest and fine peaceful protesters. My opponent Chris Coons is silent as our rights are being trampled.”

When the spa received the cease and desist order, Witzke contacted the news station attempting to get some coverage of the issue. Upon their refusal, she announced that she will be holding a press conference outside their station.

“As for WBOC, threatening to have a political candidate arrested for holding a press conference outside their news studio is flatly absurd, though I can’t say I’m surprised by the far-left media,” Witzke told TGP. “They continue to act as PR agents for the DNC. Maybe WBOC should try covering the news, instead of covering for Chris Coons.”
