I've never understood why the US started importing the foods that we had always grown ourselves. Gov subsidies have distorted what farmers here grow.
A home's value is only worth what someone else is willing to pay. Right now far too many are priced out of the market or paying too much of their earnings for rent/mortgage. As a group, the young are buried in college debt.
When in power, Dems have always cut military funds and forces while Reps have always increased them. Under Dems, the military is forced to be frugal. Under Reps, they are incredibly wasteful.
I lived through both the boom and bust budgets. It's literally a game convincing politicians and civilians that the military needs more money. Dems have their avenues for siphoning off funds from the gov. Reps use the military for this.
