The People’s Revolutionary Party is a revolutionary socialist organization based in Long Beach, California. Our goal is to build revolutionary people power-in other words, the real power of the working class, Black, Brown, Asian, and Native majority of our city-and establish socialist democracy (true democracy) in our communities.
As socialists and communists, we fully reject capitalism. By its very nature, capitalism produces and thrives on inequality, poverty, exploitation and death. It has commodified not only basic human rights like housing, health care, clean food and education, but human beings themselves, and the very planet we live on. It makes a mockery of democracy, compelling us to choose between Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum parties of the rich.
We do not choose theory over action or vice versa. While we constantly strive to expand and deepen our theoretical education, we also agree with the great freedom fighter Amilcar Cabral, who said, “Always bear in mind that the people are not fighting for ideas, for the things in anyone’s head. They are fighting to win material benefits, to live better and in peace, to see their lives go forward, to guarantee the future of their children. ” We work to serve the people directly, providing them and helping them provide themselves with the goods and services they deserve as human beings. These programs, in combination with our efforts to learn from and learn with our communities, will point the way to a brighter future.
We are an anti-imperialist and internationalist party. As such, we recognize that just as the oppression and exploitation of people around the world is linked, so is our liberation. Our vision of socialism and emancipation does not end at the blood-soaked borders of the United States, any more than it does within the city limits of Long Beach. We support the self-determination and liberation struggles of all oppressed nations and people around the world, including those trapped within the borders of existing states.
